Yay for Monday night TV! When the episode starts, Cameron is heading to a witch’s house…no seriously. She admits she was into white magic as a kid and has remained interested, so she picks out and purchases a voodoo doll to keep evil spirits away. But let’s face facts, we are here for the drama […]
MoreHey yo! I’m starting this week off with an apology – I know I only blogged twice last week, which was not planned. Vacation kicked my ass! I got back to Austin Monday night around 9:30, and by the time I got home, showered, got myself ready for bed, and watched “Southern Charm”, it was […]
MoreHowdy! I’m still very much in recovery mode after a fun-filled trip to Las Vegas over a long weekend. I am tired, and completely off-schedule given the time difference, and in general I feel like I need to do a juice cleanse and/or eat a bunch of acai bowls until I feel clean again. But […]
MoreShew! I made it back from a fantastic trip to Las Vegas – I’m writing this from my bed at 11pm, having just gotten home and showered. Naturally, one of the first things I’m doing upon arrival is watching tonight’s (last night’s if you’re reading this on Tuesday) episode of “Southern Charm”. Polo match. Austin […]
MoreEeeek! I am so, so excited to share my latest read from Blanche’s Book Club with you! I know this plot is a popular subject (or at least it seems to be in my world), so let’s get to it. The book is “13 Reasons Why” by Jay Asher. I had this book on my […]
MoreTonight, I’m hopping on a flight to Las Vegas, ready to spend most of my dollars on drinks and slot machines, wear some of my tackiest clothes (a cactus bodysuit is packed), and eat sinfully delicious food until my stomach hurts. It will be my second time in Vegas, a place I’ve come to associate […]
MoreWell, I’m heading to Vegas on Thursday and aside from seeing the Backstreet Boys, the excitement of the Strip, the relaxation of the Palms’ pool (and bar), I’m also seeing my soulmate, John Mayer. I’ve loved John Mayer since the first time I saw him live, when I was 16. If you do the math, […]
MoreI started last night by watching part three of the “Vanderpump Rules” reunion, so that was juicy, and then settled in for another episode of “Southern Charm”. It kicks off with Cameron hitting the gym, saying she’s taking charge of her health after living off “gas station food”, which makes me even more jealous of […]
MoreWhile most of America was gorging on honey ham and chocolate bunnies, I was waiting for the series finale of HBO’s “Girls”. Don’t worry, I whipped up stuffed shells with butternut squash sauce and some crescent rolls for the occasion. I know “Girls” took a lot of shit – for making millenials look bad; for […]
MoreHellooooo! I know it’s technically a holiday, so perhaps you’re reading this from the comfort of your bed? Or the beach? Here’s to hoping! I’m at the office today, but we have spent a majority of the week packing, since the movers are coming tomorrow to put all of our work things in a new […]
MoreIt’s been an entire month since I told you guys about my trouble with fatigue, and I am happy to report that things are a little better. After a week of drinking banana tea, I wanted to try a natural sleeping pill. Making the tea every night was a long process, but the sleep that […]
MoreSee? I told you I miiiight have a lot of TV posts this week – promise this will be the last one (until next week’s recap of “Southern Charm”). But, when I saw the previews for Investigation Discovery’s “Casey Anthony: An American Murder Mystery”, I could not look away. I don’t like admitting that I […]
MoreNothing makes me happier than a fresh episode of “Southern Charm” – especially after part2 of the “Vanderpump Rules” reunion. Episode two of “Southern Charm” begins with Whitney at T-Rav’s, for a visit. Sadly, Whitney admits that he’s single – and apparently ready to mingle. T-Rav says he wants to see Whitney out every night […]
MoreWell, I F-IIIII-nally watched HBO’s limited series, “Big Little Lies” this weekend! I was in such a hurry to read the book (check out my review, here) before the series came out, and then week after week, I simply recorded it and just now got around to watching it. After the finale, everyone was talking […]
MoreI heard about this book, “Rest in Power: The Enduring Life of Trayvon Martin” when Trayvon Martin’s parents appeared as guests on a recent episode of “The Daily Show”. They’d taken their story, which started when Trayvon was born, and put it into print for all to read. And I immediately added my name to […]
MoreOver the last few months, I have been testing several different primers under my daily makeup to see which one I like best. Primers seem to be all the rage, given that basically every cosmetic brand has one – but how are we supposed to know what’s going to work for us? Because I have […]
MoreHappy Humpday, my friends! Ever since I found out I’m seeing the Backstreet Boys (in just a few short weeks), I have been taking a stroll down memory lane via old CDs. Yes, I still have CDs. A lot of them are still in my car, and once I got started, I couldn’t stop digging […]
MoreYou guys! I have been looking forward to the season 4 premier of “Southern Charm” for at least a month. And last night, it happened. Sorry March Madness, I have more important matters to tend to. Because of my excitement, I’ve decided “Southern Charm” will be my next series to review/recap each week – hope […]
MoreLately, I’ve been feeling lonely. There’s a difference between being alone and feeling lonely, because, well, I’ve been alone for a greater part of the last 14 years. Most of that time, though, I haven’t felt lonely. After two tragedies struck my friends and family in Indiana over the last six weeks though, I started […]
MoreHey, hey! We made it to the end of the week! I still have a busy day ahead, but I’m a big fan of the Friday energy, so I’ll take it. I’m excited to tell you about this book I read, so I’ll jump right in. It’s a YA novel called, “The Unexpected Everything” by […]
MoreDoes this week seem soooooo long to anyone else? It’s been super crazy at work, and I’m trying my best to keep my cool, but I’m ready for the weekend! Leave it to “So Cosmo” to provide a little mid-week relief. The episode is all sorts of Cosmo drama when Tiffany wore a borrowed sheer […]
MoreAlthough I was ready to see the remake of “Beauty and the Beast” during its premier weekend, I somehow stuck things out and saw it last night at the Drafthouse. I’ll just get this out of the way now: it’s not worth rushing to see. That’s right, it’s mediocre, at best. Honestly, where do I even […]
MoreIn just a few weeks, I’m heading to Vegas for an extended weekend of sun, relaxation, and well, lots of massive drinks. Because, Vegas! I have been to Vegas before, but it was several years ago, and I’m excited to revisit some of my favorite spots (the Paris Hotel & Casino, and Hash House A-Go-Go), […]
MoreVery rarely in my life have I been praised for my attitude. Since I can remember, I was told I have an attitude problem. Lately, I’ve been thinking a lot about attitude, and how it affects the makings of my days. When I got my first job post-college, I was one of the youngest people […]
MoreHey there! This week’s read from Blanche’s Book Club might be a little unexpected, or at least that’s what my friends were telling me when I told them what book I was reading. It’s “Settle for More” by Megyn Kelly. Before I get into WHY I wanted to read it, I’ll give you the scoop […]
MoreHey, hey! It has been a bit of a doozy of a week – so bad I almost had to go out and buy myself a bottle of wine, but I didn’t, because 1. I’m too lazy, and 2. I’m really serious about not messing up my “sleep study” (please read Tuesday’s post for clarity). […]
More**The following is a piece of original writing I entered into an essay contest. It didn’t win, but I like it, and I thought you might, too. Happy Humpday, y’all!** Each employee was to schedule a meeting with our new manager to discuss our job roles, challenges, and goals. My meeting was set for a […]
MoreIt’s been a few weeks since I told the world (yes, that’s the power of this blog) about my case of extreme fatigue – read all about it here – and I figured it’d be a good time for an update. Just a few days after the post, I decided to spend that weekend getting […]
MoreYou may recall that around election time, the cast of “Will & Grace” was doing us all a giant favor and posting on social media pictures hinting that they miiiight be reuniting. And it’s true – they are! At first, it was rumored the gang was getting back together for just one episode, but when […]
MoreHappy St. Patrick’s Day! I almost ran out and bought a box of Lucky Charms last night so I could eat it today for good luck – but I know I legit just wanted anything sugary because sometimes you just have to treat yourself. I didn’t (I had egg whites and spinach instead), but the […]
MoreAustin is hopping from SXSW, and I partook in a little bit of the fun yesterday (read: I broke my diet to drink a frose – frozen rose – and eat a Frito pie)! I also stopped by an iconic Austin spot, Jo’s Coffee, and had their signature drink, an “Iced Turbo” and it was […]
MoreLast week, I mentioned that I’ve been suffering from extreme fatigue lately. As promised, I spent the weekend, and each night this week really making an effort to get quality sleep in hopes of pinpointing the problem (you can expect a progress report next week). Part of solving the problem involves taking a solid look […]
MoreOn Sunday, I vowed to myself to spend lots of time in bed and/or on the couch, just relaxing, and doing a little bit of cleaning out my DVR. This included watching one of the best journalistic thrillers ever: “All the President’s Men”! “All the President’s Men” is based on the true story of Washington […]
MoreTa da! It’s the 8th roundup of podcasts I’ve been listening to – I mean could you ask for more riveting content than this? I think not. Truthfully, I assumed that once I had my own office, I wouldn’t listen to podcasts very much, but it turns out that I really just like being able […]
MoreHey, hey! We’re on the downside of the week, and I’m feeling good. And yep, last night was episode 5 of “So Cosmo”. Honestly, the more I watch this show, the more I like it… so let’s get into it! The episode started with some of the staff members doing a sexy workout – literally […]
MoreIf you’re a fan of “The Golden Girls”, you may recall a two-part episode where Dorothy is complaining of extreme fatigue. At the time, she is working as a substitute teacher, and she’s so tired, she can barely complete a day’s work. She goes to several doctors, and most of them tell her the same […]
MoreFor whatever reason, I decided to watch this season of “The Bachelor” (totally blaming all of the marbles Nick Viall keeps in his mouth), and so far, the best episode has been when the ladies on a group date were invited to dance and perform with The Backstreet Boys! Nick is so lucky none of […]
MoreIt has been said that time is the true teller of things (and people) that really matter. After all, things or moments or people that withstand the test of time – those are the keepers. A few weeks ago, I realized I’ve done something in my life for the first time: I lost track of […]
MoreHelllooo! Whew! This week has been such a blur – I think it’s safe to say that staying up really late on a Sunday night is just a bad idea. I feel like I started the week off on the wrong foot and I had a bit of a crazy work schedule this week, and […]
MoreI was actually looking forward to last night’s episode of “So Cosmo” – not that I haven’t enjoyed previous episodes, but at times, I just wonder where this is all going. However, I was feeling really curious about this “Fun Fearless Money” event. And why? Well, for one thing, it was held on a Saturday […]
MoreIt’s March 1st, and that means we’re a quarter of the way through 2017 ALREADY! When I set my goals for the year I was thinking about how so many people simply set goals on New Year’s Eve and basically never revisit them, and before they know it, the year has passed. I don’t want […]
MoreThe word “minimalism” has been around for a long time – at least since the 70s, when it was used to describe visual art and music coming out of post-World War II, as it was pieces pared down to the bare bones. I’m honestly not sure when we started using it to describe a similar, […]
MoreAnother Monday is upon us and I’m still reeling from the “Love Hangover” – the showcase for the dance studio I’ve been taking classes at, Dance Austin Studio. It was the 10th showcase, and included some fantastic pieces, to say the least. After I performed at the last showcase, “The Aftermath”, I had a lot […]
MoreWhoop – it’s Friiidaaaaay! I’m excited for the weekend because my dance studio is hosting it’s semi-annual showcase on Sunday and I’m really looking forward to the performance, and seeing all of my other friends rock their dances, too. Each weekend I’ve been spending some quality time reading, and I hope to get a few […]
MoreWhoop! Win for the week: I actually remembered to record last night’s episode of “So Cosmo”! So, let’s jump right into it. The episode opens with auditions for male dancers for the Las Vegas performance of “Magic Mike” – no, I’m serious. Like HELLO. Apparently Channing Tatum is friends with Joanna Cole, and he thought […]
MoreOkay, so I’m not going totally vegan, but I’ve been incorporating much more vegan meals into my life than ever before. I’ve been eating on a pretty strict diet for the last five weeks, plus prancing around the dance studio nearly every day, and I’m finally starting to see some results. I didn’t make a […]
MoreIt’s true… I am obsessed with the show “Summer House”, and I just want to BE them. It’s very “Hills’-like to me, and I cannot get enough. Here’s the description of the show from Bravo.com: Affluent New Yorkers have been fleeing to the Hamptons for generations to get the ultimate luxurious experience, but Montauk, a […]
MoreOn Tuesday, my mom delivered the news to me that a dear family friend of ours had less than a 10 percent chance of surviving. I wept behind the closed door of my office. This was not just any person – it was Cheryl, my mom’s best friend, a woman she’d known for 34 years, […]
MoreHeeyyyoooo! It’s Friday, and it has been a helluva week for many reasons, and you know what? I have to be at work before 9 am tomorrow, so damn. But is it weird that it doesn’t really take away the shine of today STILL being Friday? Cause I’m still pretty happy about it. Anyway, I’m […]
MoreHowdy! So… I totally tuned into “So Cosmo” late because I forgot to record it, was not willing to wait until it aired again at midnight, and was clearly REALLY busy eating quinoa to even check my life. So, I missed the first 15 minutes. Apologies. When I tuned in, Evan is now officially hired […]
MoreEeeekkk! I’m so excited to share my interview with Izzy, a finalist on “Project Runway Junior”, season 2, on the blog today! As you may recall, this is my first time watching a season of “Project Runway Junior”, although I have watched “Project Runway” since season one (you can read the full story here). The […]
MoreIt’s Taco Tuesday!!! …And also Valentine’s Day. Honestly, I kept forgetting that Valentine’s Day was coming around this year, which is one reason why I didn’t partake in my semi-tradition of making and mailing Valentine cards. I’ve been pretty busy with my new job, working out seven times a week, and watching lots of TV, […]
More“Cutting cable” became a thing in 2011, but reached an all-time high last year. That all-time high being 6 percent, according to a Magid survey. Why only 6 percent? Because cable is fucking awesome. I actually know a lot of people who’ve cut their cable and I’m always so shocked to hear it, because for me, […]
MoreHello! Happy Weekend Eve! You guys… I took a new fitness class on Wednesday night, which kicked my ass so hard I thought I was going to puke… and despite being so sore yesterday, I still went to two dance classes last night. So today I basically want to die. But, hey everything is always […]
MoreIt’s been a minute since I was THIS excited for a TV show to start, and yet not only do we have a season of “So Cosmo” to look forward to, but also the last season of “Girls” premiers this weekend, and “Big Little Lies” isn’t too far behind. But anyway, let’s get right on […]
MoreFor Christmas, I asked for an actual pair of headphones, as those awful earbuds were really starting to hurt my ears since I was listening to podcasts 8 hours a day! I got my headphones, and even though I have my own office at my new job, listening to podcasts has become a little bit […]
MoreIt’s been around a month since I resurrected my Pinterest account. I started back on this social channel for several reasons: 1. because I’m really trying to tighten up my diet and I wanted a place to keep track of all the cool recipes I come across and want to try (outside of my several […]
MoreThe term “self-care” has been swirling around the interwebs since at least the end of 2015, which makes me a little late to the game, per-usual. The truth is, I never really gave it much thought until recently – and for good reason. I know I’ve been alluding to “tough times” lately, and I’ll explain. […]
MoreHellooo! With my new job, I’m actually allowed to take a lunch hour (imagine that!) and since I get off work at 5 instead of 5:30, I’ve had so much more time to read for the book club! It’s really the small things in life, isn’t it? The latest read for the book club is […]
MoreI spent a decent portion of last weekend in bed watching back-to-back episodes of “Big Freedia: Queen of Bounce” on FUSE. As if I don’t already have enough shows on TV I like to watch, I find great joy in seeing what else is on that I can possibly latch onto. About a month ago, […]
MoreIn these last few weeks, I’ve been having a lot of fun cooking at home. Don’t get me wrong, I usually cook my own meals, but of course, as everything, it goes in waves. Sometimes I’m really excited to cook and I look up recipes, sometimes I just get chicken and veggies and eat it […]
MoreMan, Millennials get ssuuuuch a bad rap, but really, why? Several month’s ago, I started listening to the podcast “Millennial“, and I found myself really being able to relate to the concepts being talked about. Although I’ve never identified myself as a Millennial, I started to wonder, wait… am I one? Oddly enough, there’s no […]
MoreI am feeling so refreshed after a nice long-feeling weekend, although I did spend a lot of time on Twitter when I probably shouldn’t have. But, at last! We’ve reached it to the finale of “Mariah’s World”, a day I never thought would come, as it has been a long, fake journey that we’ve followed […]
MoreHey, hey! We all made it to Friday! I’m actually working from home today, so the fact that I get to stay in my comfy pjs and have the TV on is basically like I’ve already made it to the weekend. Last night, I finished reading the latest installment in Blanche’s Book Club: “Big Little […]
MoreOne thing, among many, that has super sucked is my skin past the age of 25. Then, I chalked it up to my years working in the service industry, surrounded by smoke and guzzling way too much alcohol. My skin at that point, was so bad, that after trying everything – from basic cleansers and […]
MoreA few months ago, I was listening to the “Happier” podcast hosted by Gretchen Rubin and her sister Elizabeth Craft. In each episode, they offer a tip you can try at home that might make your daily life a little happier. In one episode, their tip was to “Imitate a spiritual master”, basically someone you […]
MoreWhen is it not an okay time to think (and write) about hot chefs? I can’t quite recall what spurred the need for this post – perhaps that one of my favorite chefs was on this season of Top Chef, and was sadly one of the first to go (there’s always “Last Chance Kitchen”, though, […]
MoreHey, hey! Wow, last week was pretty huge in my little corner of the world. It was my first week at a new job, and we have a new President. I also went to Mexico for the second time in my life, but I had my first taste of panchos, ate roasted street corn, fresh […]
MoreHowdy! Is anyone else still having trouble adjusting back to life post-holidays? I’m not sure what my deal is, but I’m still finding I can’t quite get things together – it’s a slow process, and it just might be February before I’m fully ready to tackle 2017. But, I am having a pretty good time […]
MoreOkay, John Mayer fans! Tomorrow is the day we get to hear some new stuff, finally! While I don’t really have the inside scoop (as much as I wish I did), we can discuss what we know so far. 1. The title of the album is called “The Search for Everything”, which John said in a […]
MoreA big part of this blog is me figuring out how to make the most of any situation. People say it all the time, “When life hands you lemons, make lemonade!” But no one ever talks about HOW we’re supposed to make the most of it. So, I’ve taken a look at some typical situations […]
MoreHello! Thank you so much to everyone who wished me luck and sent me well wishes yesterday – it was very sweet and I really appreciate it. I’ve got the recap of Sunday night’s episode of “Mariah’s World” for you – a day late – but hey, today may seem like a Monday for those […]
MoreGood morning! You’ve heard me talk about a big change that’s happening in my life these days – I’m starting a new job. And guess what? Today is my first day! As with any change in my life, of course I’ve been thinking about the past. Many of you were reading when I announced my […]
MoreHappy Friday the 13th – Mwahahahaha! It’s my last day at my current job, and on Monday I’ll be skipping to someplace new, and of course, I’ll be sharing the next leg of my journey with you. But today, I want to talk about Blanche’s Book Club’s latest read, “Still Life” by Louise Penny. I […]
MoreTomorrow is my last day at my job (more on this in the coming days), and when I submitted my resignation, I had to say, “My last day will be Friday the 13th.” Dun, dun, dun! I wouldn’t consider myself to be superstitious, but when I made the decision to switch jobs, Mercury was in […]
