How to take the ‘Best Bath ever.’

The following post contains affiliate links, which sends me a small percentage of any sales at no cost to you.

The retail shop I work at sells all kinds of bath products — from soaps and bath bombs to bath salts and scrubs. A few weeks ago, a gentleman came into the store and asked me for help.

He explained that he always lived in a house that either didn’t have a tub or didn’t have a good enough one for him to take a bath in. So, he’d recently remodeled his bathroom and was about to take his first bath in 10 years.

His plan was to take a THC gummy and chill — he showed me how serious he was by tipping his head back and spreading out his arms, as if they were resting on the edge of a tub.

But he wanted to know, what were the products we sold if he wanted to take the best bath ever?

Little did this gentleman know, but he was talking to a bath expert! Without knowing it, I’d been preparing for this question for years.

I’ve tried so many body scrubs, bubble bath gel, bath salts, bath bombs, you name it. I gave the man several recommendations (and in various price-points), but I thought I’d share them with you, in case you’re looking to take the BEST. BATH. EVER!

Best Bubble Bath: Kneipp Aromatherapy

I started trying Kneipp products years ago when I saw Jaclyn Hill rave about it (I have always loved her recommendations). And well, she was right! As far as pricing goes, Kneipp is a step above what I was using before trying it, but it’s well worth it. Plus, if you can catch it on sale, it’s a great item to stock up on.

The Kneipp Aromatherapy Bubble Bath is vegan, and has no parabens. It provides a lovely bubble bath that smells SO GOOD — the scents are my favorite part about Kniepp products. My top scents are the “Goodbye Stress” (Rosemary + Mint), and “Dreamtime” (Lavender + Vanilla). I wrote a review on this same bubble bath a few years ago, if you want to read that.

Alternative option: Dr. Teals Foaming Bath is a great option that’s a fraction of the price. The scent isn’t as strong as Kneipp, but the bubbles are top notch.

Best Bath Salts: Kneipp Mineral Bath Salts

I promise this entire post isn’t going to be an ad for Kneipp products. But, the AROMA of these bath salts is unmatched — and I’ve tried so many bath salts. These have no chemical additives, no fake scents, and are not tested on animals. Just as with the bubble bath, the price point is a bit higher, but you can get a good 5 baths out of each bottle.

Note: it says 10 baths on the label, but I really like to load up. My favorite scents are “Under the Weather” (Eucalyptus) and I use it whenever my allergies are bad or if I feel a cold coming on. I also love the “Dream Away” (Valerian + Hopps) if I’m taking a bath before bed.

Alternative option: Pursoma Mineral Rich French Sea Salt. They used to sell this at Ulta for around $10/bag, but now it looks like it’s more difficult to find (and they’ve raised the price on the brand’s website). I found it available at Walmart, and I’m currently stocking up, because this stuff is FANTASTIC. It’s so luxe, and unlike any bath salt I’ve ever tried in that it’s wet right out of the bag. The scent combos are so lovely — my favorite is the “Cleanse Your Mind” (Eucalyptus + Mint).

Best Bath Bomb: Lush Bath Bombs

You cannot go wrong with any bath bomb from Lush. They are certainly higher-priced than ones you’ll get at major retailers, but these are worth every single penny. I love Lush as a brand because their products are vegan and not tested on animals. Plus, they are always contributing to social issues I care about.

Some of my favorite Lush Bath Bombs include Intergalactic (neon colors + mint), Twilight (lavender + tonka), Ickle Baby Bot (lavender), and any of the Bubble Bars!

Alternative option: Pacha Soap Co. Froth Bomb. I got some of these for Christmas, and again for Valentine’s day, and they are fantastic! I’ve tried the peppermint scent, and the jasmine, and they were both so nice. They have a high-level of scent, and they have a slow burn, so it’s a good fizzy bath + the company has a sustainable mission. You can order them online, but they’re also in several Whole Foods locations!

Best Bath Oil: Kneipp Bath Oil

Another win for Kneipp! They just win it with the scents for me. The cool thing about the Kneipp Bath Oil is that it foams up if you pour it into the running water, which I appreciate. I like getting the sampler pack so I have a little bit of each scent whenever I need it. I wrote an additional review on it, here.

Alternative option: Kopari Coconut Melt. If you’re looking for an oil to moisturize your skin, this is it. While it’s a higher-priced option, Kopari is such a great brand, and the Coconut Melt is vegan, paraben-free, and made with organic, virgin coconuts! This stuff is multiuse, so you can drop some in your bath water, and then slather it on once you’re out of the tub. They have a few scents, but I’m a fan of the original!

Best CBD Bath Products: Truly, Homebody, and Prisoma

CBD Bubble Bath: Truly Mary Jane CBD Bubble Bath. This is on the higher-priced end, but the bottle is pretty big, and I’ve taken more than a dozen baths with it. The bubble are huge, the scent is light, but it’s the perfect weeknight bath. I love that it has a pump, and I’ll be purchasing again! I love adding it to baths with a little epsom salt for a doubly good soak.

CBD Bath Salts: Homebody CBD Bath Soak. I started using Homebody when I found out it’s a black-owned brand! Not only do these salts come in great scents and colors, but they make for a beautiful bath. I still have scents left t try, and I’m determined to try them all!

CBD Bath Bomb: Prima Unwind Bath Gem. I saw this at Sephora and have purchased it several times. Not only is it vegan, sustainable, and full of relaxing CBD, but it also creates a moisturizing, milky bath. I love it!

Best Body Scrub: Tula Banana Pudding Body Exfoliator

I recently tried the Tula Banana Pudding Body Exfoliator… and the bottle is gone. This stuff is heavenly! I love the scent, of course, but I also love the texture of the scrub. It’s gentle (the grit is little round beads), but it also foams up and is a fantastic body wash.

I have since purchased the standard scent (which is a light tropical) and it’s great, too, if banana pudding isn’t your thing.

Alternative option: Tree Hut Shea Sugar Scrub. This stuff is around $10 a jar, and wow, I love it. I have purchased SO many of these, and I love trying the new scents! It’s got a hearty grit, but leaves the skin feeling so soft and supple. Some of my favorite scents are Candy Cane, Desert Haze, Tropical Glow, and Pink Hibiscus.

Best Body Mask: Ahava Natural Dead Sea Mud for Body

I love Ahava as a brand and their Natural Dead Sea Mud for Body was the first at-home body mask I ever tried. If you’re looking for a spa-like experience at home, this is it!

One bag is enough for two applications, and I like to apply it prior to taking a bath. Like a mask for the face, this leaves the body feeling soft and smooth.

Alternative option: Pacifica Guacamole Whip Face + Body Mask. I love Pacifica, and this is such a fun item. I kept the tub of this on the edge of my tub and liked to apply it to my neck and chest while soaking. It’s perfect to nourish sun-exposed skin, especially in the summer months.

Best Body Wash: Kopari Hydrating Vitamin C Shower Oil.

I recently started using the Kopari Hydrating Vitamin C Shower Oil, and wow, it’s such a treat. The scent is light and summery, and while it is an oil, it foams up so much! I also admit, I love the pink packaging and seeing it in my shower.

I have yet to be disappointed by a Kopari product, and this one is no different. You can use it alone or with a loofah or sponge. I hope they come out with additional, more seasonal scents, because it’s amazing!

Alternative option: Ahava Mineral Botanic Cream Wash. This cream body wash is so luxurious and smells wonderful! I have the hibiscus and fig, which is fresh but rich smelling.

Best Bath Candle: Uncommon James Nashville Citrus

I am a huge fan of candles from Uncommon James, and the “Nashville Citrus” scent is perfect to light before soaking in the tub. It’s crisp, but relaxing, and it’s a good year-round scent. If it’s fall, the “Campfire Cowboy” is a great option, and they usually release limited seasonal scents, which are always fun.

If you want to try Uncommon James’ candles (or anything), click here and get $10 off your order!

Alternative option: One Eleven Crystal Candles. This is a Black-female-owned brand that puts crystals in the candle wax! Not only are these scents amazing, the candles are affordable, and each scent has a meaning (according to the crystals inside). You can even get candles for specific full moons!

Now, who’s ready to take the best bath of their life?? I hope you enjoyed this list — what would you include on yours?
