How to Make the ‘Honey Beary’ Smoothie from Juiceland.

One thing I love about living in Austin is the large number of Juicelands!

While I’ve tried several items from Juiceland — açai bowls, juices, smoothies — my favorite item remains the Honey Beary smoothie.

It’s simple and classic but SO delicious!

So, when I started craving it a few weeks ago, I went on a hunt for the recipe so I could make it at home — remember, I’m on a TIGHT budget this year.

But that doesn’t mean I can’t enjoy things I love, so I Googled. And, well, it took me a long time to find anything on how to make this smoothie.

Eventually, I found a tidbit from a former Juiceland employee on Reddit. I don’t want to out anyone, but I’ll share what they said: 1.5-2 frozen bananas, 2 ice cream scoops of frozen blueberries, 1/4 cup of peanut butter, 2 tablespoons of honey, and a conservative amount of sweetened almond milk.

Sending all my love to this Reddit user, because this was enough to get things rolling in my kitchen.

Here’s the recipe I’ve settled on:

My Homemade Honey Beary Smoothie

  • Approx. one cup of frozen bananas. I bought frozen banana slices; it takes the guesswork out of freezing them, and you’ll always have them on hand! I got them on sale ($3.50/bag), which is enough for 2-ish smoothies.
  • Approx. 1/2 cup of frozen blueberries.
  • 1/4 cup of smooth peanut butter. Of course, you can use any nut butter or granola butter of your choice!
  • 2 tablespoons of honey. Use agave nectar if you wish, or local honey — whatever you like. Adjust this amount based on how sweet you like your smoothie.
  • Approx 1/3 cup of unsweetened almond milk. I prefer to use unsweetened and then adjust the honey level. 1/3 a cup of milk makes a very thick smoothie, which this is supposed to be. Of course, you can adjust it if you like it thinner — but start with a small amount of milk and add more as you blend.

Dump it all in your blender and GO!!!!

My Honey Beary smoothie 🙂

Since it’s such a thick smoothie, it takes patience — I have to stop, stir, blend, stop, stir, blend… but it’s worth it!

Pour it all into a cup (I like using a glass cup and a big glass straw) and enjoy! I like to have this for breakfast, but it would make a good afternoon snack, too.

This smoothie is sweet, but not too sweet, and it’s got some protein, thanks to the peanut butter. Of course, you could add anything you want to it — chia seeds, collagen, etc. — to make it fit your needs.

Cheers!
