A Review: Homebody Plot Twist Bath Soak.

Hey there! It’s the weekend, and although the weekends sometimes put a wrench into my system (I never know what to do on the weekends in these COVID times), I am just glad last week is over. I’ve been feeling in the dumps about my dwindling financials and the lack of job prospects on the horizon.

But, I journaled every day this week (including this morning) and I am getting back into a good routine with yoga and taking walks, which really helps my mental health.

I’m also really focusing on doing at least one nice thing for myself each day that I can look forward to.

Today my nice thing is going to be an at-home facial (using my Vanity Planet facial steamer and my Microdermabrasion tool) and yesterday I took a hot bath and used a good-smelling body oil when I got out (it was the Jade + Fox Quiet Storm oil).

It’s the little things.

Which brings me to my latest product to review: Homebody’s Plot Twist Bath Soak!

I came across Homebody when I was searching for Black-owned businesses to support last summer, and I asked for anything from them for Christmas.

My mom got me the “Plot Twist Goodie Box” which has a full-size Plot Twist Bath Soak (in a mystery color), a Mini Plot Twist Mood Enhancer, and a pair of socks 🙂

It’s totally not the point of this post, but I love the socks! They have smiley faces on them and they’re really cushy — I actually wore them on a walk yesterday and was pleasantly surprised — I usually just wear them around the apartment.

Anyway, on to the Bath Soak.

I used the Mini Plot Twist Mood Enhancer first; I dumped the entire thing into the bath and it was a beautiful pink color. While the color was the first thing I noticed, the scent is what’s really got me sold on this stuff.

The scent is made up of pomegranate, lemon, passionfruit, blooming jasmine, sugared citrus, and exotic florals. Umm, yes!

The Mood Enhancer is basically a concentrated bath soak that’s loaded with nutrients. It’s good when you’re having a bad day because it’s an extra shot of the stuff that will reduce anxiety and give you some motivation. The thing is, you can only get this product in the Goodie Box. I definitely think it’s worth it, especially if you’re a bath junkie (I am).

In general, the Plot Twist Bath Soak is made to help you feel better and I’m all about this. My large back of Bath Soak was blue, which made for a beautiful bath, but again, that scent is so good!

The awesome thing about Homebody is that all of their bath soaks are vegan and cruelty-free. If you don’t have a bathtub, you can still reap the benefits of their soaks by using them as an exfoliant and massaging them into your skin — amazing!

At the time of this writing, the entire site is sold out, which I know is super crappy, but that shows you how fantastic this brand is. Do yourself a favor and follow them on Instagram @hey.homebody and keep an eye out for when they restock (their website says it’s coming soon).

Here are their other Bath Soaks:

  • Amethyst + Alchemist | For sleep and muscle-relaxation
  • Full Spectrum of Possibilities | For anti-inflammatory needs and soothing skin
  • I Rose Above It | For inner peace and relieving burnout
  • The Future is Green | For refreshing and restoring feelings
  • Under the Pale Moon Sky | For calm, balance and harmony

Honestly, these all sound so good, but I really want to try the Amethyst + Alchemist, along with the I Rose Above It.

What kinds of self-care rituals help you after a bad day?

Today, I’m going to take a barre class (via Zoom), start reading a new book, cook myself a nutritious meal, and am going to give myself that facial!

Have a great weekend 🙂
