As a foodie, a good portion of my trip to New York City must be delicious food! When I plan trips, I try to visit diverse food places, whether they’re touristy or for locals, but I also don’t want to spend a giant chunk of my time waiting in line for something I’m not that excited about.
With all of that in mind, picking the food places I want to visit was the last part of my planning. I’m not putting all of my choices here, but I wanted to share a few! I plan on reporting back once my trip is over, so you can get the full picture.
Tiny’s (Tribeca)

Tiny’s is known for its historic structure – including original ceilings and bricks more than 100 years old. Owned by three siblings, it’s said to be a cozy, neighborhood atmosphere.
The menu is modern American with a French touch. Immediately, I’m drawn to their burrata starter and the “Drunken Donuts” for dessert. According to my self-made itinerary, this will be my first meal in the city.
The City Bakery (Flatiron district)

I was looking for a place (or two) that would satisfy my sweet tooth while also replacing “Serendipity III” as a stop. A frozen hot chocolate sounds great, but I have no desire to spend half a day waiting for it.
I stumbled across The City Bakery, and this place sounds like a slam dunk. The pastry chefs here have been baking longer than the city’s subway system has been around!
The City Bakery is known for its hot chocolate and pretzel croissants, but also their noteworthy ability to use what’s in-season to create delicious menu options.
La Pecora Bianca (Midtown)

Two words: homemade pasta. My love for noodles is unspeakable, and I’m really excited for the meal I’ll have here. La Pecora Bianca is true Italian cuisine, using as many local ingredients as possible.
They serve breakfast, lunch and dinner, but I have 10pm dinner reservations, because that’s how fabulous my temporary New York life will be. Glancing at the menu, the arancini and the bucatini catch my eye – my stomach is growling already!
The Palm Court (The Plaza)

I have fantasized about New York City for as long as I can remember, and a big part of that fantasy was dining at The Palm Court inside The Plaza Hotel.
For more than 100 years, The Palm Court has been New York’s ICONIC spot for afternoon tea, so that is what I made reservations for, and I cannot even believe I’m typing that right now.
From smoked salmon sandwiches to cinnamon macarons, I am so excited to sip THE tea and enjoy the beautiful, historic scenery of The Palm Court.
The Butcher’s Daughter (NOLITA)

Known for its cold-pressed juices – think veggie butcher, not meat – The Butcher’s Daughter is where I’m planning to grab a quick breakfast! At first glance, the Moroccan Mint Tea and the Ricotta Toast with Pear sound DIVINE!
Olmsted (Brooklyn)

Welcome to Prospect Heights, where Olmsted is the neighborhood place to eat. I’m planning on hitting up Friday brunch, and I’m already eyeing the eggrolls with housemade bacon (vegan diet will be temporarily on hold) and the dutch baby pancake with seasonal fruit. Whew!
Nom Wah Tea Parlor (Chinatown)

I’ve never had proper dim sum, so I picked the place that’s been doing in the longest in the city – Nom Wah Tea Parlor. I’ve heard glorious things about their housemade soup with dumplings, and the “OG” egg roll sounds like perfection.
…Are you hungry yet? I am! I have a few more places on my list, but I’ve got to leave a few things in suspense, right? Plus, I’m full aware that my schedule may change or perhaps I’ll see another place to eat that looks better than what’s on my list, but that’s what the adventure is for!
Tomorrow, I’ll be talking about some of the sightseeing plans I’ve got!
