Blanche’s Book Club: ‘The Autobiography of Gucci Mane’.

It’s been a rough week in the world. Anyone feel like it’s just one thing after another? It has really being weighing on me this week, even though I know we’ve all been through a lot in the last… 18 months? Ugh.

I don’t have much of a solution, although for starters, I’m limiting my social media presence. It can be fun at times, but it’s mostly just toxic. Secondly, I donated to a cause I care about. It’s small thing, but I felt a lot better once I did it.

I am really, REALLY looking forward to a long weekend of rest… and limited time online. I’m sure I’m not the only one that could use it!

One safe escape is a book, right? I have been listening to some good ones, including “The Autobiography of Gucci Mane.”

In this book, Rapper and Producer Gucci Mane shares his story in his own words, from the struggles of growing up all the way to his rise to fame, studded with visits to prison.

As I listened to his story, I realized that I really haven’t read much about some of my favorite rappers, which is a shame.

Gucci Mane spares no detail in his stories about becoming addicted to lean, survival in Atlanta’s rap scene, and how it felt to be behind bars at the height of his career.

His story really is fascinating!

If you really like stories about triumph, I would recommend this one. Plus, if you’re a music lover, this will bring back some fun trap and rap hits of the early 2000s — I’m looking at you “Laffy Taffy” 🙂

What are you all reading right now?
