If you’ve ever had that nagging feeling that your mop isn’t really doing anything… same.

For years, I used a Swiffer-like mop in my apartment, and while it was convenient, I always felt like my floors weren’t actually getting clean. It wasn’t until I stumbled across a few oddly satisfying “cleaning” videos on Instagram that I realized there was a whole world of mops out there—and mine was definitely on the bottom rung.

After a deep dive into internet recommendations and reviews, I landed on the BISSELL® Spinwave Cordless Pet Hard Floor Spin Mop Cleaner 18V, model 23157. This mop had glowing reviews, and while I didn’t want to spend a fortune, I was able to find a used (like-new) version and decided to give it a try.

Now that I’ve been using it for a few months, I finally feel ready to share my thoughts!

A Bit About My Floors

I live in an older apartment with faux wood floors throughout and very vintage linoleum in the bathroom (and not in a charming way). I’ve tried scrubbing the bathroom floors with every cleaner under the sun, but nothing ever felt like it really worked. I also cook a lot—so the kitchen floors tend to get especially grimy.

First Impressions

Right out of the box, the Spinwave was incredibly easy to set up. Thanks to the spinning mop pads, it’s shockingly quiet and practically moves itself once it’s powered on. I love that you control the amount of cleaning solution dispensed with a simple button.

I’ve mostly used an all-natural cleaner with it, but I also tried the included BISSELL floor cleaner, and honestly, it smells really good.

The Satisfaction Factor

One of the best parts is seeing just how dirty the mop pads are after a cleaning session. There’s something deeply validating about knowing that grime was on your floors and now it’s not.

I’ve used the Spinwave in every room—kitchen, bathroom, living area—and it glides over faux wood and linoleum with no issues.

What Could Be Better

This mop isn’t flawless, but for the price I paid, I’m really happy with it. It’s a bit on the heavy side, though once it’s running, that weight becomes pretty negligible.

It’s not quite cut out for heavy-duty scrubbing; I’ve tried both the standard and “scrub” mop pads, and they feel pretty similar in action.

That said, I love that the pads are machine-washable. I just toss them in the laundry after a deep clean, and they come out looking good as new.

Final Verdict

All in all, I’m really glad I upgraded. The BISSELL Spinwave has definitely raised the bar in my floor-cleaning routine.

It’s a big step up from my old mop, and I actually look forward to using it to keep my floors looking fresh. For anyone with pets, old flooring, or just a desire to finally feel like your floors are actually clean, this might be your new favorite tool.
