A Review: Mac Glow Play Blush.

It’s been a while since I’ve done a makeup review.

Truthfully, since I started working from home in 2018, I do my makeup a lot less than when I did as someone reporting to an office five days a week.

But now that I have my retail job, I’m back into the full swing of wearing makeup regularly. The fun part about it is I get to actually USE the stuff I’ve purchased, and I’m getting to try new items.

Or at least items that are new to me!

Over the holidays, my mom was in town, and I wanted to brave the outlet mall and go to The Company Cosmetics Store. If you’ve never been to one of these, drop everything and go right now!

I’ve only ever seen them at outlet malls because they sell makeup and skincare products that are usually unavailable elsewhere. Sometimes it’s old makeup collabs or products that didn’t sell… and of course, it’s at a discounted price (usually at least 40% off).

My mom and I made it, and this time, they had so many MAC products, which is always a win.

Among other things, I picked up MAC’s Glow Play Blush in the color “Heat Index.”

MAC launched Glow Play Blush in February 2020, so I’m late to the game, but I’m just glad I got it!

It comes in a compact that’s large enough to dip a blush brush into, but you can apply it with your fingers, too.

It’s not necessarily a cream blush but has a light, bouncy consistency that is soft to the touch but dries to a powder finish.

I’ve been applying this the same way I apply cream or powder blush: on top of my finished complexion makeup (foundation + setting powder).

It applies beautifully, blends well, and doesn’t break up my makeup base. I applied it with my fingers the first few times but have since switched to a brush just to cover a bigger area.

The color I got, “Heat Index,” is described as a bright pink, but it’s more of a fiery red to me, and I love it! It’s buildable, which I also love. I always apply one layer when using my LED-lit mirror and then add another layer when I see how it looks in my bathroom lighting.

The finish of this blush is what makes it unique — it’s radiant, but not because it has glitter or shimmer (it has neither of those). I’m honestly not sure how they did it! The finish makes it look natural, but it provides that “glow from within” look.

I also want to add that I’ve gotten some compliments about this blush, and when have I ever gotten that?! Never!

There are 11 different shades of the Glow Play Blush, including pink, purple, red, and nude options. I liked the blush so much I ordered it in another shade: No Shame 🙂

I’ve linked the blush to Amazon throughout the post, but if you’d rather purchase it directly from Mac’s website, I do have a discount code for $10 off! Just follow this link, and starting adding items to your cart!
