I’ve heard about Rothy’s — and how great they are — for years! I have some friends who wear and love them, so they’ve been on my radar for a while.
I even bought my mom a gift card for a pair for Mother’s Day!
But I’ve never really looked into buying a pair for myself… until some email marketing got to me (bravo, Rothy’s)!
They were having a huge sale (I think it was 50% off + I had a discount code), and I just couldn’t resist picking up a pair of The Driver loafers.
Years ago, I had a similar looking pair of loafers from Steve Madden that were teal suede. I got them on sale and wore them all the time.
Eventually, I had to get rid of them just because of how much wear they had, and I really never replaced them.
I think a great pair of loafers is a wardrobe staple, because they go with so much, and you can dress them up or down.
Rothy’s has so many different colors of The Driver loafers, but I went with a classic “Cognac.”
When a product is on the pricier side, I tend to go for neutrals that will go with more so I can wear them more.
But, some of the brighter, bold colors would go with a lot, too — I absolutely love the Raspberry color!
Rothy’s are known for comfort, but they are also known for the materials they use. The Driver loafers are created from 17 plastic water bottles per pair, which is pretty amazing!
Rothy’s shoes are also machine washable, which keeps them looking clean and fresh. I actually already put this to the test last weekend when I dropped a blob of granola butter on my loafers.
It quickly left an oily circle on the toe, but I did a little bit of scrubbing with some dishsoap and rinsed them under the sink. I let them air dry and you’d never know what happened.
Now, are these the most comfortable shoes I own? No. That award still goes to my Golden Goose sneakers.
However, I’m not saying they’re not comfortable. The loafers are definitely comfortable, supportive and soft all at once.
Being loafers, they definitely start to feel tight on my toes after a few hours of wear, but it could just be my feet 🙂
I think these would be great for travel and outdoor wear since they are washable. Of course, they are appropriate for running errands and office wear given the loafer style.
Would I buy another pair? Yes.
If you can catch a sale, of course, wait for that. But I appreciate that all of the styles, colors, and patterns are classic that you’ll be able to wear for years.
I think The Sneaker style and The Point would be the other two pair I’d consider buying.
Overall review: I think Rothy’s is a great brand with classic styles. The price point is a little shocking at first, but given the quality and comfort of the shoes, it’s worth it!
