Before I started getting my hair colored red (I’m moving into magenta shades lately), I didn’t pay much attention to how I took care of my hair, and that included the products I put in it.
If you’re into hair color at all, you may know that caring for artificially red hair is pretty tough. It fades fast, it rinses out and it gets all over everything. So, over the years, I’ve learned a few tricks to keep my hair looking pretty decent.
I only wash my hair once per week, although I try to go 10 days between washes. Because of this, my hair and scalp have been the victim of buildup and general oil from just not washing the hair — it happens!
So, whenever I wash it, I use a scalp scrub to make sure things are really clean, but that doesn’t eliminate issues between washes. Having a healthy scalp is important if you want to maintain healthy hair and between all of the products I throw in my head to keep it from fading… my scalp can become dry and irritated and it’s just not a good look or feeling.
I started looking for additional scalp products that wouldn’t affect my hair. I always see scalp oils, but my hair is already oily enough! I saw this IGK Trust Issues at Ulta, which is an instant scalp treatment. Here’s the full scoop on it:
This instant scalp rebalancing treatment uses Patented Hydrogel Time Release Technology to moisturize instantly and over time — leaving dry, irritated scalps soothed, refreshed and hydrated. Infused with natural astringents like Apple Cider Vinegar to rebalance and antioxidant-rich Yuzu Lemon Extract to nourish.
Here’s how you can use it:
- Spray onto wet or dry scalp where relief is needed.
- Non-greasy formula will invisibly absorb into scalp.
- Lightly massage with fingers until cooling sensation fades.
- For a pre-styling scalp treatment, apply before heat styling.
I have used it on wet and dry hair and can confirm that it’s not greasy and does easy irritated areas of my scalp. However, I have never really noticed a “Cooling” sensation and the smell is not pleasant. It doesn’t stick to the hair, so it’s not a big deal.
This is the third IGK product I’ve tried and I continue to be impressed with their stuff. I haven’t really seen products similar to this (if there are some out there, please share!) and I appreciate that it’s a quick fix for my scalp when it’s not time to wash my hair.
