Over the last few months, I’ve gotten into a good skincare routine. Remember, during the pandemic lockdown, when I made a very extensive skin care routine for myself and then got horrible acne?
If you’re curious, I have a separate post on what happened and the products I used to clear things up — complete with before & after pictures.
Ugh.
Thankfully, that’s cleared up, and I’m now focused on doing whatever my skin needs that day.
So, here’s my current morning skincare routine:
To wash or not?
Before bed, I use a heavier cream or oil (I’ll make a separate post on my nighttime routine), so I often skip washing my face in the morning because I don’t want to strip any moisture. Sometimes, I may just splash water on my face or skip this step entirely.
If I do need to wash my face — if it feels oily and not from a product — I use good ole Noxema or Elemis Cleansing Balm.
Toner
I always use a toner in the morning. If I skip the first step, it’s a way to lightly clean my skin and prepare it for all the other products I’ll apply. I am sort of between brands right now — I just finished using Farmacy Deep Clean Pore Cleansing Toner and just started using the Provence Beauty Sugar Plum Exfoliating Facial Toner.
I liked the Farmacy toner a lot, but I wanted to try the Provence! I am always looking for a balance of skincare that keeps my pores clean since I’m acne-prone but also have other skin conditions.
Eye patches
After the toner, I put on a set of under-eye patches. I do this DAILY. I keep all my eye patches in the fridge so they’re nice and cool when I put them on, and it helps me wake up. I leave these on for as long as possible — sometimes I even get up earlier so I can leave them on longer (!) — at least 30 minutes.
I have a few different kinds that I rotate between, but I’ve got a post on my favorites.
Serum
Once I’m done with the eye patches, I use a serum on my face and neck. I’m currently using the Clarins Double Serum, but I also like the Cocokind Postbiotic Acne Serum or the Sunday Riley CEO Glow.
Eye cream
I use eye cream at night and in the morning — but different kinds. For the morning, I like to use the Origins Ginzing Eye Cream or the Fourth Ray Beauty The Daily Eye Cream.
Moisturizer
Next, I moisturize (don’t forget the neck!). My favorites are the IT Cosmetics Confidence in a Cream or the First Aid Beauty Ultra Repair Cream.
SPF
I’m trying to get better at using sunscreen daily. My favorite is Supergoop Glowscreen, but I also just bought the Sun Bum Glow 30 and the Sun Bum Face Mist (SPF 45) for touchups over makeup.
…And that’s my current AM skincare routine! What does yours look like?
