A Review: SOL by Jergens® Sunless Tanning Towelettes.

Summer is officially here and… all the pools are closed.

During previous summers, I usually spent a good chunk of time lounging by the pool reading and trying to catch a tan. So, this summer, I am fully prepared to get a fake tan.

I have used many, MANY sunless tanning products over the years and I always go back to the wipe. Particularly, I love the Tan Towels, but they aren’t cheap (granted, they are well worth the price).

But, when I saw these SOL by Jergens wipes, I wanted to give them a try. Here’s the scoop:

Swipe on sun-inspired color for a natural-looking tan within hours. Made with a tanning active derived from natural sugars, our new towelette wipes make self-tanning on-the-go easier than ever. These large towelettes have plenty of formula for your whole body. So go ahead and swipe–get that glow from head to toe.

  • Full-body self-tanning towelettes for a head-to-toe glow
  • Tanning active derived from natural sugars
  • Dye-free, streak-free, hassle-free color
  • No color transfer, so no mess and no stress
  • Fresh tropical scent of passion fruit essence
  • Formula, infused with coconut water, leaves skin visibly moisturized
  • Color develops within 4 hours, peaks at 24 hours, and lasts for days
  • Re-apply for deeper color
  • Perfect for tanning on the go

A few things I noticed right off the bat: the towels are pretty large and they are FULL of product. There was plenty to use on my entire body, which you often don’t get in a tanning wipe.

The product smells nice and goes on very light — it feels like water. The formula is clear, so while it’s not obvious where you’ve already wiped, you can see the wetness on your skin.

Overall, this gives good color. I got the Medium shade and have been using them a few times each week. My tan has faded pretty unevenly, but I think that’s more about my skin and application than the product itself.

Because this is a new line of products, I don’t see the half-body wipes like I’ve seen from other brands, but I’m going to keep my eyes open for it. Those can come in handy when you just want to tan your legs or upper body.

On the Jergens’ website, 89% of people said they would recommend this product. Not bad! The wipes are $24 for a 6-pack, which is comparable to the Tan Towel. Given that a 6-pack would likely last a month, that’s still more affordable than a professional spray tan.

I am about to try an additional sunless tanning product for the summer and will be sure to report back soon! What sunless tanning products have you tried and loved?
