Coming at you from day 4 of self-isolation! I know all sorts of things are crazy right now — I’ve been doing a daily check-in on my Instagram @OrangeJulius7 every morning and people are stressed — but I figured posting about some fabulous makeup might serve as a tiny break from it all.
Trust me, I’ve got plenty of Caronatime content coming later. But today, I am going to share all of my thoughts on The Candy K Set by Kylie Cosmetics.
I bought this during the holidays when Kylie Cosmetics was having a sale. I was eyeing this set because I’d tried one of her glosses and a matte lipstick, and while I really like them both, I wanted to try other makeup products from Kylie’s line.
The Candy K Set includes a Kyshadow Duo, Blush and Highlighter Duo, lip liner, velvet liquid lipstick and matte lipstick — all in the shade Candy K, which is the best-selling shade in the Kylie Lip Kits. Here are my thoughts on each piece in the set:
Candy K Kyshadow Duo
This is a set of two eyeshadows — one matte and one metallic — and it’s about the size of a single Mac eyeshadow. Both are nice, although the matte has a decent amount of kickback. The shimmer is my favorite of the two, but the matte is still a great shade and would work on several different skin tones.
Candy K Blush + Highlighter Duo
All of the shades in this set are based around the shade of the Candy K lip kit, but they are not all the exact same. For example, the matte eyeshadow is definitely darker than the blush. I love the blush shade! It’s light, but buildable. The highlighter is a nice color, too, almost peachy, but it’s not a blinding highlight. I still like it, but I was shocked that it wasn’t stronger — could be good for a more subtle, natural glow.
Candy K Lipliner
This was my first time trying the lipliner, and I can see why everyone loves it so much. It’s incredibly smooth and creamy. The color is a bit darker than I expected, but I love the formula.
Candy K Velvet Liquid Lipstick
The Velvet Liquid Lipstick isn’t supposed to be as dry of a finish as Kylie’s signature matte formula — this has a softer finish, but completely full coverage. I like the way it feels on the lips, but I wish it had a doe foot applicator.
Candy K Matte Lipstick
This was the second matte lipstick from Kylie Cosmetics I’ve tried and I love these! They have a beautiful matte finish, but aren’t drying. Plus, I just love that the bullet lipsticks are coming back. Love these!
Other items from Kylie Cosmetics I’ve tried:
I have also tried the matte lipstick in “August” and “Miami” — “August” is a beautiful pinky nude (perfect for every day) and “Miami” is a bright coral (good for spring and summer)!
One of the first items I bought was the Koko K gloss and it’s so great! The gloss is not sticky, but it has full-coverage color. The Koko K shade is actually similar to Candy K, but it’s a little more pink and a bit lighter.
When I bought The Candy K Set, I also got the Loose Setting Powder in soft pink… absolutely gorgeous! It’s not as bullet-proof as some other setting powders I’ve tried, but the color is so flattering.
There you have it! I’ve heard so many mixed reviews on Kyle Cosmetics and I think it’s just like any other brand — some items are better than others. But, I enjoy trying everything out.
