It’s fall in Buffalo, and admittedly, it’s taken me a while to get into the spirit. The summer felt so short, and now the days are getting even shorter.
But fall is the last colorful season for a long time, so I’m determined to be present and enjoy it before winter takes over!
Cozy Stuff
The days have been nice (so far) and sunny, but the evenings have been chilly. The sun is setting sooner, but I’ve decided to lean into it. I put up string lights around my apartment, keep the lights low in the evening, and added a heavy quilt to my bed. After dinner, I try to stay off my devices and read or watch TV; if I fall asleep abnormally early, so be it.
Style
I got a few “new” thrifted cardigans this season (my haul is here), and am leaning into anything that makes me feel like I’m back in school, including dark, flared denim (thrifted) and lace-up Doc Marten boots (also thrifted, more here). It’s a 90s fall, can you tell?
Beauty
I treated myself to some fall-ish items using my Ulta points, including a fresh haircut!
I also bought myself Saltair Serum Infused Body Wash (Driftwood scent), TonyMoly Plumpkin Retinol Firming Hydrogel Eye Patches, and TonyMoly sheet masks (Pumpkin, Peach, Beet, Pomegranate, and Honey).
I’ve been taking a hot shower every night, using body oil (I like Palmer’s), and putting super-thick lotion on my feet with socks to keep them soft all season.
Food & Drinks
I’ve already been having a lot of fun making more meals at home lately, including lentil tortilla soup and pot roast. This weekend, I’m making a batch of lasagna soup, and next week, it’s red beans and rice!
I’ve also been enjoying cinnamon rolls, Cinnamon Protein Cheerios, and bought some Annie’s Halloween Mac n Cheese for a rainy day (the noodles are so cute!). I have been drinking Olipop (mostly the Vintage Cola), Polar Black Cherry Seltzer Water, and decaf cinnamon coffee (I like Bones!).
Entertainment
I got rid of any monthly streamers, so I’ve had to get a little creative with my entertainment, but I’ve been pleasantly surprised. I discovered the library DVD section after hooking up my old DVD player to an old monitor. I’m currently watching “Murphy Brown” season one (the original season), but I have “Dead Poets Society” and some fall Hallmark movies on hold.
I listen to “College GameDay” every Saturday on the SiriusXM app and keep up with the LSU Tigers there, too. I still have Peacock (thank you, former self, who paid for the entire year), so I’m keeping up with “Traitors: New Blood” and “Real Housewives of New York.”
Scents
I haven’t been into home scents lately, but I treated myself to the fall set of Touchland Hand Sanitizers! I always carry one with me, especially when taking the bus or train. The set has Spiced Pumpkin-Tini, Cranberry Fizz, Salted Caramel, and Midnight S’mores.
I’ve been using the Snif 2% Perfume combined with the Crunch Time mist… it is wonderful!
And those are my fall favorites this year! After such a busy summer, it does feel nice to slow things down (slightly) and enjoy some time at home. What are you turning to this season?
