I’ve been writing on the internet for a long time (I don’t want to age myself), and although I’ve got many places to publish my writing (a blog, a newsletter, books, social media…), I’ve accumulated a lot of thoughts that I don’t quite know where they belong.
Some are too personal for a blog post that’s open to anyone. Some are too weird for a newsletter. Some are 1,200 words about a television show I haven’t watched in 15 years. Some are things I start thinking about at 3:30 in the morning when I should very clearly be asleep.
So: Last Call.
This is the after-hours corner of The Bitter Lemon, a place for personal essays, observations, pop culture rabbit holes, stories about Buffalo, books and movies, work and life, and whatever else I can’t stop thinking about.
Some of what I write there will be free. Some pieces will be for paid subscribers. There will probably be some things in between, too.
I don’t have a perfectly calibrated publishing schedule or a five-step content strategy. But I do have a lot of things I want to write about.
And, after spending a lot of time writing things because they needed to perform well in a search engine (or, ugh, AI), I wanted somewhere I could write something simply because I had something to say.
That’s what Last Call is.
If that sounds like your kind of thing, I hope to see you there.
Pull up a chair. We’ve got time for one more.
Cheers!
P.S. Don’t worry, nothing here on the blog will change!
