Spooky Pot Pie: Bringing a Little Haunt to Comfort Food.

I’ve had a “spooky” pot pie pinned to my Pinterest board for years, but for some reason, I just never found the time to make it—until now!

With a renewed focus on finding small, affordable ways to stay present in the season, I finally decided it was time to turn this festive idea into a reality. And I’m so glad I did!

Not only was it fun to make, but the finished product was both delicious and perfectly suited for this time of year.

The idea for this pot pie came from a recipe I found on Pinterest, which I used mainly for the ghostly crust instructions.

Instead of following the entire recipe, though, I opted for a vegetarian filling from another source, and it was absolutely delicious.

There’s something about a homemade pot pie that’s so comforting, yet I rarely make one myself—probably because I forget how easy they are!

How I Made My Spooky Pot Pie

For the crust, I went with frozen store-bought pie shells for both the base and the ghost decorations. It simplified the whole process but left the pie with that comforting, homemade taste.

I didn’t have a ghost-shaped cookie cutter, but I found a quick workaround: I printed a ghost image from Canva, cut it out, and used it as a template to trace the ghosts onto the dough. It worked perfectly and gave the top of the pie the cutest little “ghostly” effect.

After assembling everything and popping it into the oven, I ended up with a cozy, delicious pot pie topped with whimsical little ghosts floating on the crust.

It was such a simple touch that really elevated the meal into something seasonal and fun. The best part? The leftovers were just as good the next day.

Why This Project Felt So Fulfilling

Taking the time to cook this pot pie for myself was one of those little things that brought so much joy.

It was a reminder that embracing the season doesn’t have to mean big events or expensive outings; sometimes, all it takes is a simple meal that’s a little more festive than usual.

If you’ve been looking for an affordable, low-effort way to feel a little more connected to fall (or if you just love pot pie!), this is definitely a recipe worth trying.
