Last summer, I was too scared to go to the pool because of COVID. This summer, I’m not denying myself the pool! I’ve been making an effort to go at least once a week (I’ve already been twice this week), even if it’s just for a few hours.
As a result, I’ve been buying all sorts of sun-related products, and a lot of them have been from Sun Bum. I’ve gotten face sunscreen, spray sunscreen, hair protectant, after-sun gel, etc. I also got Sun Bum’s Natural Browning Lotion that promises to provide a tan — yes!
It says it’s supposed to speed up the “tanning process,” which I am here for. I do tan, but I feel like it takes me all summer, and well, I’m trying to get a glow… even if no one is seeing it since I’m in quarantine.
This is the second tan accelerator I’ve tried (I’m still trying to figure out how I feel about the first one), but this one I am really liking.
The safest way to use this is to put on whatever sunscreen you like first, let it set in and dry, and then put the accelerator on top. So, I’ve been putting on my sunscreen at home and by the time I pack my pool bag and get myself to a lounge chair, I’m ready to apply the accelerator.
This one is brown in color — it looks and almost feels like chocolate pudding. And… there’s coffee in it, so it smells fabulous! The color in the lotion helps you see where you’ve applied it, but it does transfer, so I wouldn’t recommend using a towel or a swimsuit that you’re worried about getting a little tan.
Then, sit back and relax.
I can definitely say this stuff works. I should’ve taken a before and after photo, so you could see, but even just being in the sun for a few hours gave me a nice bronze color, without a sunburn.
The other thing I like about Sun Bum is that it’s cruelty-free, vegan, and reef friendly.
I will definitely be buying this again and I can’t imagine going to the pool or the beach without it!
Have you ever tried a tan accelerator?
