Fall TV I’m watching.

Aside from college football, I have a mental list of things I want to watch on TV this fall. When my best friend told me she was keeping a running list of shows to watch, too, I decided to document my thoughts in case you need some ideas.

I will note that this isn’t a huge list, and fall TV used to be THE thing. Right?!

Even the people in my writing group said they couldn’t find much to watch last week. Part of it — or maybe all of it — is an effect of the strike (we aren’t getting season three of “Yellowjackets” until 2025).

But let’s get into the shows I’ll be checking out this fall:

Industry | MAX

“Industry” is currently in its third season, but I’d never heard of it until recently, and now I want to check it out. Here’s the brief scoop:

Graduates from all walks of life compete for a limited number of available full-time employment opportunities at Pierpoint, a top investment bank in London.

I’m not huge on work shows, but this one looks like a good mix of career and relationship. If you’ve watched this, let me know!

The Girls on the Bus | MAX

Sadly, this show was canceled after one season (womp, womp), but I still want to watch that one season because it’s election time, and I need entertainment. Here’s the logline:

Four female journalists find friendship, love, and scandal as they follow a parade of flawed candidates in an unpredictable presidential campaign.

Only murders in the building | Hulu

“Only Murders in the Building” just started releasing episodes for season four, which investigates the murder of Sazz Pataki (Brazzos’ stunt double).

Admittedly, I didn’t like season three, and by the looks of season four, I’m worried this show is only looking to add a long list of celebrities to its roster.

However, I will still watch it because I loved the first two seasons; I’m hoping things will turn around in season four.

Gilmore Girls | Netflix

“Gilmore Girls” debuted on the WB in 2000. And yes, I’m about to start watching it for the first time 24 years later. You know what else? I’m watching it on DVDs I got from the library 🙂

I’ve had so many people tell me to watch it, and if I do, it should be during the fall months. So, here I am!

If you’re unfamiliar, “Gilmore Girls” is a multigenerational drama about family and friendship set in Connecticut. The show centers on Lorelai Gilmore and her daughter, Rory. Lorelai owns the town’s bed-and-breakfast and contends with weekly dinners with eccentric, well-off parents Richard and Emily Gilmore (who always have something to say about their daughter’s life).

Somebody somewhere | MAX

“Somebody Somewhere” premiered in 2022 and, in late October, will premier its third and final season.

This season will focus on Bridget Everett’s (Sam Miller) continued journey of growth and acceptance.

I love that this is a feel-good show without much structure in the plot; it focuses more on the characters. I’m sad it’s the last season, but glad there’s one more to watch!

The Perfect Couple | Netflix

“The Perfect Couple” is one of my favorite Elin Hilderbrand books, so when I saw it was being made into a series, I knew I wanted to watch it.

Here’s the scoop: When a lavish wedding ends in disaster before it can even begin, with a body discovered just hours before the ceremony, everyone in the wedding party is a suspect.

It’s a fun, rich little whodunnit, and I’m excited to see the show!

Doctor Odyssey | ABC

Let it be known that I’m only interested in this show because it stars Joshua Jackson 🙂

“Doctor Odyssey” is about Max (Jackson), the new on-board doctor for a luxury cruise ship, where the small but mighty medical team navigates unique medical crises and each other miles from shore.

It’s like “ER” but at-sea? Ha! I’ll give it a try!

Scamanda – ABC

Last winter, I listed to the entire podcast series “Scamanda” and was shook over it for days! ABC is giving this story the docuseries treatment, and I’m so excited to see it.

Scamanda tells the story of Amanda Riley — a wife, mother, blogger, and Christian — whose tragic cancer tale captivates thousands. But Amanda has a secret that she’s dying to keep, and after an anonymous tip to an investigative reporter, her own words may prove to be her downfall.

It’s set to premiere on Oct. 9 and has four parts.

Joan | The CW

“Joan,” starring the Emmy Award-nominated Sophie Turner as real-life jewel thief Joan Hannington, is an “exhilarating yet emotional story set against the vibrant backdrop of the 1980s,” according to the network’s official synopsis.

An 80’s jewel thief? Count me in!

The mini-series is set to premiere on Oct. 2.

So, that’s my list of shows for the fall! What am I missing? I’d love to know what you’re watching!
