For the last few years, I’ve been trying to add more clean beauty products into my routine. So, when I got a Sephora gift card for Christmas, I bought myself several items from a clean beauty brand I’d been eyeing: Caliray.
Caliray was actually started by the same woman who founded Urban Decay(!), Wende Zomnir.
But while Urban Decay is one style… Caliray is completely different. Not only does it embrace a laid-back, lighter makeup look, but it’s also completely clean, mostly vegan, and the packaging is eco-friendly.
I mean, what?! Amazing!
When I bought this Caliray mini-haul, I quickly put it away in my bathroom closet because I wanted to save it for summer. I did, and now summer is fading, and I can report back on all the goodies. Let’s go!
Caliray So Blown Clean Primer
Skin prep is the most important part of any makeup routine, so I was pumped to try this… and I wasn’t disappointed.
My first impression is that it feels lightweight on the skin, and it’s just the right balance of blur and glow. This made my skin look great in a natural way!
The primer has G-P-Hyptripeptide (increases collagen synthesis), camellia oil (nourishes, moisturizes), vitamin E (helps with stress prevention), and niacinamide (supports redness reduction).
This primer is the best one I’ve tried in years, and I’m so happy it’s got clean ingredients! It’s improving my skin while making my makeup look flawless.
Caliray Freedreaming Clean Skin Tint
Last summer, I was hoarding samples of all the skin tints that were so popular, ha! While I’ve never minded using foundation — and I love the one I’ve been using for the last year — there are many times I just want quick, light makeup.
Skin tint is perfect for that; especially if you’re not looking for full-coverage makeup. I had a few samples of the Caliray Freedreaming clean skin tint, so I knew I liked it before buying the full-size.
I bought the shade 2, which is a good fit. Since it’s not full-coverage, you have some wiggle-room with the shade. Although it’s a tint, it does a great job of hiding imperfections, which was a very pleasant surprise!
It’s less about covering the skin and more about blurring, which I love. This is what gives a look that flawless finish, without it feeling heavy or looking cakey. I love this tint!
Caliray Endless Sunset Clean Multipurpose Palette
I love face palettes! I love them for travel but also for every day looks. Not only are they convenient, but the colors typically complement each other, so it helps bring the look together.
This palette has seven colors, and because they’re all clean, you can use them wherever and however you want. There are two shimmer shades, with the rest matte.
I used the shades for blush, highlighter, bronzer, and eyeshadow, and they created such a simple, quick look that I really loved.
Before I bought this palette, I did see some mixed reviews about the palette itself — that the packaging was cheap and complaints about there not being a mirror. While I do understand these comments, I care more about the packaging being eco-friendly (it’s made from renewable bamboo), and I always use my lighted mirror (this is the one I use).
Caliray Surfproof Clean Setting Spray
And to complete the look, the setting spray! Surfproof is a delicate mist that kept my makeup looking great all day long… in the Texas heat and humidity! I’m very impressed with this, and all of the products I got!
Now that I’ve given Caliray a test drive, there are some other products I’ve got my eye on…
Caliray products I want to try
Blurry Blush. It reduces oil while blurring pores and adding a flush of color to the face. I like the shade “Zen.”
Big Swell. This clear lip plumper adds shine and volume!
Have you tried anything from Caliray? I’d love to know your thoughts!
