Pop-culture podcast + Show recommendations.

In April, I stopped listening to “The Toast,” AKA “The Morning Toast,” for several reasons I won’t get into here.

But you should know that I was a Toaster for years, and I listened religiously every day and even subscribed to their Patreon.

Stopping listening means I have 90 minutes of dead air to fill each day, so I’ve been on the hunt to find other things to fill the void.

As a result, I’ve rounded up a list of pop culture podcasts to listen to! Some I’ve been listening to for a while, others I just started, and some I’ve yet to listen to (but I’ve added them to the queue).

Let’s get into it:

Pop-culture podcast recommendations from a former Toaster

Smith Sisters Live | Daily

Before we go any further, let me clarify that “Smith Sisters Live” is not a podcast — it’s a live radio show on Sirius XM. I’ve been listening to the show for a year or so, and in January, it got bumped from a weekly to a daily show, and I’ve loved every minute of it!

The sisters — Lauren, Mariah, and Rachel — all have careers and expertise in pop culture, which is the backbone of the show. Each episode includes a deep dive into something current, along with the ladies’ commentary. It’s a fantastic hour of all things pop culture!

Keep It | Weekly

Hosted by Ira Madison III and Louis Virtel, “Keep It” covers the collision of pop culture and politics from a queer perspective.

Still Processing | Weekly

Wesley Morris and J Wortham host “Still Processing,” which covers television, film, books, and music — but also the culture of work, dating, the internet, and how those fit together. I should note they haven’t put out a new season, but I’m not sure if it’s still in the works.

Celebrity Memoir Book Club | Weekly

Comedians Claire Parker and Ashley Hamilton read and discuss celebrity memoirs on this podcast. A friend recommended it to me, and I’m excited to check it out!

Andy Cohen Live | Daily

This is another Sirius XM show that I listen to religiously. There are new, live episodes Monday-Thursday, and it’s a mixture of general pop culture and Bravo. There are often celebrity guests, but it’s entertaining regardless.

Deux/U | Weekly

I recently started dabbling in Deuxmoi — the anonymous Instagram account that covers celebrity blinds — and figured the accompanying podcast would be just as entertaining.

The Popcast | Weekly

Hosted by Knox McCoy and Jamie Golden, “The Podcast” is a podcast educating listeners on things that do not matter. I’ve been listening to the show for a few years now, and it’s good clean, fun — and hilarious!

Everything Iconic with Danny Pellegrino | Weekly

NYT bestselling author/screenwriter/comedian/content creator Danny Pellegrino has made a name for himself in the pop culture sphere with this podcast, and I’ve been sleeping on it! This was one of the first shows that popped into my head when I started looking for content to consume, and I’m excited to become a fan.

Watch What Crappens | Daily

Hosts Ben Mandelker and Ronnie Karam share incredibly detailed and hilarious recaps of all the Bravo shows! I’m not sure what prompted me to start listening years ago, but the “Summer House” recaps have kept me coming back week after week.

Giggly Squad | Weekly

Speaking of Bravo, Hannah Berner and Paige DeSorbo from “Summer House” host “Giggly Squad,” which covers pop culture as well as their personal lives.

Las Culturistas | biweekly

Matt Rogers and Bowen Yang host guests and talk about pop culture news and the formative experiences that turned them into Culturistas.
