A Review: Laura Mercier Translucent Loose Setting Powder.

I’m excited to share today’s review because it’s a product I’d been eyeing for months!

It’s the Laura Mercier Translucent Loose Setting Power.

This stuff has a cult following, but it’s on the higher end, price-wise. As a result, I was hesitant to buy it.

However, they sell where I work part-time, and during the holidays, the company gave us three days to get 50% off high-end makeup.

I treated myself and bought several items I’d been wanting to try, including this one!

Who is Laura Mercier?

If you’re not familiar, Laura Mercier — the person — is a makeup artist known for creating the “flawless face.”

She was born and raised in Provence, France, and uses the Parisian style and aesthetic in her makeup line.

Laura Mercier — the brand — sells skincare, makeup, and body products. It’s part of the Orveon family, which also includes BareMinerals and Buxom.

The Translucent Setting Powder Review

I bought the translucent shade, which is best for fair to medium skin tones. There are two additional shades: Honey and Medium Deep.

At the time, I bought a holiday set that included the velour poof, which is usually sold separately. Nothing against the poof, but I’ve found it’s easier to apply the powder with a damp beauty sponge.

I mainly use the setting powder to set areas where I use concealer, which is mostly under my eyes, along the sides of my nose, and on my chin.

I’ve been shocked at how well it stays put — it made it through allergy season for me, and no matter how watery my eyes got, it stays.

I’ve used countless powders under my eyes that have settled into my fine lines, and it looks alarming — not my LM powder!

It’s very finely milled, and although it’s a matte finish, it’s nothing stark or unnatural-looking. There is a REASON this stuff has a cult following (which isn’t always true).

Now, while it does have a higher price, I think it’s worth it, especially if you’re worried about your making staying put and/or have fine lines.

On the upside, a little does go along way. I’ve been using my jar for months and still have plenty left.

I love the way this powder looks on my skin — I’m hooked!
