This post feels like it’s been a long time coming…
I know clean beauty is nothing new — but it’s something I was actively ignoring. I know that sounds wild, but I also knew that if I decided to switch to only clean makeup and skincare products… my options would be limited.
I almost didn’t want to KNOW how much bad stuff was in the products I love using.
It’s illogical because I’m always looking into what I eat, and I only burn clean candles and solely use gentle, clean products for my home.
But, the stuff I’ve been putting on my skin? YIKES.
I didn’t mean to even think about it, but I stumbled upon a chart on the Ulta website that listed makeup and skincare brands that were any of the following: cruelty-free, clean, vegan, or sustainable.
I’ll admit I was SHOCKED to see the brands that weren’t listed there. As ignorant as it sounds, I honestly didn’t know companies were still testing on animals??? Ugh.
I understand if a brand can’t hit all four of those points, but I can’t shop a brand that tests on animals. And then I started looking down the list of brands that were (or weren’t) clean.
I was shocked to see the brands that weren’t, including Fresh, Bare Minerals, Physician’s Formula, and Dr. Teal’s. Notice a trend??
After learning even this small bit of info, I already bought some clean makeup products and have been paying attention to brands that are clean, along with being cruelty-free and vegan.
But, at this point, I’m not willing to toss things I’ve already purchased
However, I’m going to try my best to stick to clean products moving forward.
I got the Think Dirty app to help me spot products I DON’T want while I’m out shopping (even during the holidays, no one is getting a dirty product from me)!
I’m curious, are you using clean beauty and/or skincare products? If so, what are some of your favorites?
