April Charity: Hill Country Ride for AIDS.

I am late in my monthly charitable contribution, but it’s here! In April, I donated to the Hill Country Ride for AIDS (HCRA).

I likely would have never heard of HCRA if it weren’t for my close friend, Derek (you can read more about him and his business, Yoga for All Humans, here). He volunteered at the race and was encouraging friends and family to support the cause.

HRCA is the largest fundraiser in Central Texas for HIV and AIDS services. The money from donations supports agencies for different areas of care: prevention, testing, medication, housing, counseling, social services, and hospice.

The HCRA is a scenic bike ride that welcomes all levels of riders. Participants can choose the distance and route that best suits them.

Bike riders can participate solo or as part of a team with friends, officemates, family members, classmates, or congregations. They can also take part in JoyRides, fundraisers, and social events and rides throughout the ride season to connect to the cause.

For 20+ years, HCRA has built a community of kindness that supports its participants, volunteers, supporters, and the beneficiaries it serves. In 2021, more than $500,000 was raised!

I’m so thankful Derek introduced me to this charity. When the ride comes around in 2023, maybe I’ll volunteer to cheer people on along the way!
