I always look forward to my Sephora birthday gift, and this year, I decided to try something I had been eyeing for a while—Summer Fridays. As part of my birthday surprise, I selected their Lip Butter Balm in vanilla, which came alongside their famous Jet Lag Mask (which I haven’t tried yet, but I’ll report back soon!).
Summer Fridays is a brand I’ve admired for some time. It is known for its clean beauty products and minimalist approach. This lip balm was my first experience with the brand, and let me tell you—it lived up to the hype.
What I Loved About the Summer Fridays Lip Butter Balm
First, the balm’s texture is incredible—smooth and silky but not sticky.
It’s a vegan product packed with hydrating shea and murumuru seed butters, which work to condition and heal dry lips almost instantly. The subtle vanilla flavor is delicious without being overwhelming.
It’s great for an all-day gloss that adds a nice shine without feeling greasy, and I also loved using it as an overnight lip mask to wake up with soft, hydrated lips.
One feature I really appreciate is the packaging. The balm comes in a tube with an angled applicator, making it easy for on-the-go applications. As someone who’s used the Fresh Hydrating Lip Balm in the past, I find that the Summer Fridays balm is equally hydrating, but the tube packaging makes it more convenient to toss in my bag.
Plus, no need to dip your fingers into a pot when you’re out and about!
Comparison: Summer Fridays vs. Fresh Hydrating Lip Balm
Since I’ve been a devoted user of Fresh Hydrating Lip Balm for a while, it was inevitable that I’d compare the two. Both balms are similar in price point and in texture, though Summer Fridays is slightly thinner. Despite that, it delivers the same level of moisture, which is impressive.
I can’t deny that Fresh will always be a favorite, but the tube design of Summer Fridays is what won me over for grab-and-go situations. It’s perfect for both a daytime gloss and a nighttime lip mask, while Fresh’s balm feels more like a staple I keep at home.
Final Thoughts
I completely used up my Summer Fridays Lip Butter Balm—every last drop! That’s how much I loved it. Now that it’s gone, I’m eager to try their other flavors like sweet mint, iced coffee, and hot cocoa. If you’re in the market for a versatile, non-sticky lip balm that works as hard as you do, this one is definitely worth adding to your rotation.
