A Review: Dune The Bod Guard.

I’m continuing to use what I’ve got (it’s a big motto for me this year), and when the summer began, I had A LOT of sunscreen and SPF products to use.

I’m happy to report that I’ve gone through 75% of my stash ( a lof of it was brand new, unopened products – be weary of expiration dates for SPF products) and I am excited to report back on one product I really love.

It’s The Bod Guard by Dune!

I actually bought this last summer when I was working at Ulta, but I never opened it until now, and it’s easily the sunscreen I’ve been looking for!

At a glance, I love the packaging. But here’s some of the other details that I also love about it:

It’s clean, provides UVA/UVB protection, is water-resistant for 40 minutes, is reef friendly, is vegan, is cruelty-free, and is made in the USA.

On top of those things, the two reasons I really love it are: it’s clear, and it smells SO good!

I have been using mineral sunscreens for a few summers now, and while I appreciate the clean ingredients in those, I have a navy swimsuit that is completely stained with white splotches from the white-cast of mineral sunscreen.

When I opened this and started using it, the gel consistency and the clear color (it has a seafoam tint to it, but it goes on clear) was an instant hit.

Earlier this year, there was a lot of conversations around reasons to avoid using sunscreen… yeah. I mostly heard this coming from social media influencers, but no-less it’s a problematic thing to say.

These influencers were saying sunscreen actually causes cancer instead of preventing it. This conversation highlighted an ingredient known as Benzophenone, which is a possible human carcinogen found in sunscreens that contain oxybenzone or octocrylene.

There are several sunscreens out there — including The Bod Guard — that do not contain Benzophenone. And you should be using sunscreen! Skin cancer is the only type of cancer that’s preventative. Seriously.

Anyway, that’s enough of that.

But, wanted to put it out there that I love this sunscreen. Truly. I’ve used so many different kinds, and I’ve already purchased a second bottle of this stuff. I love it; the bottle, the scent, the texture, the CLEARNESS of it. I’m hooked.

I also purchased The Mug Guard from Dune but haven’t tried it yet — I’ll report back when I do!

What’s your favorite sunscreen?
