A Review: Amika Perk Up Dry Shampoo.

I’m still on a mission to use what I’ve got, and that rule mostly applies to the products in my bathroom. I have so much stuff, but I am slowly working my way through it.

Although the products I’m using aren’t new to the market, they’re new to me, which is still fun. Trust me, I still visit beauty websites and see the new products hitting the shelves—it’s tempting!

Last week, I finished using a bottle of the Amika Perk Up dry shampoo. Not only did I love using it, but I realized that I’ve been using it for years and haven’t shared it here. Let’s go!

My review of Amika Perk Up Dry Shampoo

To provide context, I’ll say that I wash my hair about once per week if not every 10 days. I have colored hair, so I’ve trained it over the years to last a long time. But it does get greasy between washes.

I work from home, and I don’t usually leave my apartment. I recently started using dry shampoo more often because I attend a decent number of video meetings during the week.

The Perk Up has been an easy way to refresh my hair when I have a meeting.

The Perk Up dry shampoo is talc-free, which means there’s no white residue. Like all of Amika’s products, the dry shampoo is vegan and has clean ingredients, including rice starch (absorbs oil) and sea buckthorn (supports healthy hair and scalp).

Of course, it has Amika’s signature scent of vanilla, clover, and citrus. It’s amazing!

When I need to use Perk Up, I spray it on my roots—particularly in my part and around my face. I wait at least 10 seconds (sometimes longer) and brush my hair. I do this before styling, curling, or whatever I need to do.

My hair always looks and smells fresh. Although this is a strong product, it’s not heavy, and it doesn’t weigh my hair down.

I will definitely be rebuying this!

Why I love Amika as a brand

I try to be mindful in many ways when it comes to the brands I support with my money and on this blog. I try to only purchase products that are inclusive, sustainable, ethical, and clean. It’s not always possible, but the more boxes a brand can check, the better.

Amika makes products for every hair type, is a USA-based brand, is always cruelty-free and vegan certified, uses clean ingredients, supports non-profits, has 100% recyclable packaging, and is carbon-neutral certified. What?!

This brand is incredible!

Amika products I want to try

I’ve only used the Perk Up, and now that I know Amika is a brand I can trust, I browsed the website to see what other goodies I might be interested in. Here’s what I found:

  • Soulfood Nourishing Mask: Jojoba seed oil and sea buckthorn give your hair a drink of water.
  • Un.done Volume and Matte Texture Spray: Zeolite helps build and hold volume and texture.
  • The Shield Anti-Humidity Spray: Also protects hair from hot tools and sunlight.

Overall, I’m so impressed and excited to have found a new brand to support! Have you tried any Amika products?
