I’ve been reading small bits of self-improvement books as part of my daily morning routine, and I’m loving it!
The most recent book I finished is “Get The F*ck Out of the Sun” by Lauren Evarts Bosstick, best known for “The Skinny Confidential.”
Admittedly, I don’t follow TSC, but I saw a little bit about this book before reading it. From the title, I wasn’t really sure what it was about, but when I saw it available at the library, I realized it was a book on skincare!
For all of the face masks and at-home facials I’ve done over the years, I’ve never thought about reading a book on skincare — isn’t that funny?
I checked it out right away, and I really enjoyed reading it.
The reviews on Goodreads were mixed, but I went into this book that the tips and advice from various celebrities and doctors would vary based on their expertise and their skin. Bottom line: different things work for different people.
I took notes as I read each morning, and I’ve got a list of things I want to try, buy, read, and listen to. Here’s my list, in case you’re curious:
- Summer Fridays CC Me Serum
- Caffeine Sunscreen (a type of sunscreen that improves the skin)
- Tula Sunscreen (protects from sun and blue light)
- Dry brush (to use before applying self-tanner)
- LED Mask (to prevent signs of aging)
- Facial yoga
- Facial massage
- Gua sha
- BareMinerals faux tan
- First Aid Beauty Skin Rescue Deep Cleanser
- Konjac sponge (for face washing)
- Aztec Secret Indian Healing Clay (pore-cleansing)
- First Aid Beauty Facial Radiance Intensive Peel
- Lawless Beauty (clean products)
- Botanical Beauty Vitamin C Face Oil
- Versed (nearly anything from this brand!)
- Rosewater (to boost any skincare product)
- Baby washcloths (for daily face washing)
- “Natch Beaut” (podcast)
- “Fat Mascara” (podcast)
- “The Uncomfortable Podcast“
- “Breaking Beauty” (podcast)
…As you can, it’s a long list! I actually already purchased the LED light therapy mask, but I need more time to use it before I can properly report back 🙂
I thought this book was fun and digestible — it may not be the most “medical” reference for skincare, but I will probably never read something too heavy!
Have you read this one?
