Right before Memorial Day, I heard some rumors that Marc Jacobs was shutting down its Beauty line.
My heart sank. I have always wanted to try ANYTHING from Marc Jacobs Beauty! For years, I have looked through the aisle at TJ Maxx, and while they often do have Marc Jacobs products, they are either not my shade, or have been messed with.
Why hadn’t I just bought some over the years? Well… it’s not exactly top-of-mind since it’s not sold at Ulta, and it’s a little bit higher of a price point than what I usually go for with makeup.
But, if it was really all being discontinued, then, I wanted to try some of the items I’ve heard so much about.
When I went to the Marc Jacobs website, they were having a giant sale: 50% off site-wide!
I didn’t know if it was for the holiday weekend or because they really were getting rid of everything, but I figured it was the best time to buy some items.
Don’t you just love when a sale takes the edge off items you normally would feel a tad bit guilty for buying? I sure do!
I honestly spent probably two hours scouring the site and really trying to 1. not spend all of my money, and 2. buy items I could get some great use out of.
Now that I’ve had it for awhile and can actually provide feedback, here’s what I got:
O!mega Bronze Coconut Perfect tan
This is the first item I put in my cart. I feel like every beauty blogger I follow loves this stuff! It has a huge pan — double the size of what you usually see. I honestly love the large, yet thin, compact and it’s huge mirror, which would be great for travel.
I got the shade Tan-Tastic, which is a great medium/neutral bronze shade. This bronzer matte, not at all shimmery, and blends really nicely. It also smells like the beach, which I’m not mad at. Of course, this is great for the face, but I think you can use it all over, especially in the summer for a sun-kissed look.
O!mega Glaze Al-Over Foil Illuminator
Last holiday season, Marc Jacobs Beauty released its Very Merry Cherry line — holiday shades in the cutest mint green packaging you’ve ever seen. Manny MUA reviewed some of the products on his YouTube channel and I was so enamored with the packaging (I’m a sucker for it).
The Glaze comes in the same size compact as the bronzer, but in the Very Merry Cherry packaging, and wow, I was so excited it was still for sale! I can’t turn away from a highlighter, so this was an easy item to add to my cart.
In person, the color is a little more rosy-bronze than I expected. It blends easily, and looks great along the collarbone. It does provide a subtle glow, but I don’t know if it’s better than other highlighters I’ve purchased for less (full price this is $49).
Dew Drops Coconut Gel Highlighter
This is a newer product from Marc Jacobs Beauty and it sure seems like we’re moving in the direction of dewy, natural, glow, using cream and gel-based products. So, this was a no-brainer. The toughest part was deciding what color to go with (they have three shades). I went with the Golden Peach.
I love this product! I put it in my daily makeup bag — it’s perfect to mix with foundation or moisturizer, or dabble on the high points for a traditional highlight look. It’s light and creamy, and a little goes a long way.
Eye-Conic multi-finish eye palette
This was the other product from the Very Merry Cherry line I got — I couldn’t say no. It’s a 7-shade palette with a few shades to wear everyday and a few that would be more for a night out. It’s slim (great for travel) but has a great mirror inside.
I love the shade “Delicious” for daily use and “Extra” for a more dramatic look. The pigments are beautiful and incredibly smooth to blend. Love this!
Le Marc Lip Creme
I wanted to round off my purchase with at least one lip product and I decided to go for a classic bullet lipstick in a neutral shade I could wear anytime. I got “Cream and Sugar” which is just a nude matte (suede finish).
I love this and will probably buy more. I love the texture — not drying — and it’s just a beautiful lip product. Plus, I love the packaging!
Overall, is this the best makeup I’ve tried? Nah. But, I’m not disappointed in anything I picked. I still don’t know if Marc Jacobs is discontinuing the Beauty line… I sure hope not!
Have you tried any products from Marc Jacobs?
