Blanche’s Book Club: ‘Faith Taking Flight’.

I was SO excited to read this book — Julie Murphy does YA like no other. I have read all of her books and I just love her characters.

I checked this one out from the library’s digital collection (which has been a savior during lockdown) and I took a blanket to the park and read it.

Faith Taking Flight” is the first book in what I assume will be another series. Faith is a superhero and can fly, but I have never read a book like this so I can’t compare it to other books in the genre.

Aside from being a superhero, Faith is a fan girl of a TV show and she writes a popular fan blog under a pen name — I loved this aspect of her.

She also is a normal teenager in high school and has a job and takes care of her grandmother.

In a crazy turn of events, Faith meets her favorite person: the star of the TV show she loves so much.

Of course, things aren’t always as they seem — don’t worry, no spoilers — but it’s definitely set up for another book.

I think now that this first book sort of laid the groundwork for Faith’s character, the second book will be even better.

Have you read any superhero books?

The next book Blanche’s Book Club will be reading is “Final Girls” by Riley Sager.
