It’s Monday and I’m feeling much better than I was last week. I went to bed at a reasonable time and have accepted the fact that in order to succeed right now, I’m going to have to take the strongest sleep aid in my apartment: the Olly Sleep + Immunity.
So, I took a dose last night and managed to get enough sleep in order to feel awake and ready for the week. In the last few weeks, I’ve really struggled with getting basic self-care done, such as my bedtime skincare routing that I was loving so much just a month ago, or taking regular yoga classes.
This week, it’s back ON. I am determined to get things back on track so I can feel more motivated and knock some things off my to-do list. So, let’s jump right in to the reason we’re all here: palette swatches!
I have still been purchasing makeup this year, even though I’ve been wearing it less. So, When I was organizing my stash, I came across a palette I bought at the start of this year, but haven’t used yet. Why? Who knows, because it is gorgeous!
It’s Morphe‘s “Always Golden” palette, which has 9 pans and is a totally neutral color selection. It has 6 mattes and 3 shimmer shades — the shade “Taken” is sort of a light shimmer, but I counted it anyways.
One thing about Morphe is that it’s affordable and although the packaging is pretty basic, it does the job, and this one has a full mirror in it, which I love. I hate when palettes don’t have mirrors!
Anyway, here are the colors in the palette from top to bottom, left to right: Surprise, Myself, Splendid, Brews, Witness, Taken, Connection, Aware, and Storm.
Just looking at this, first impressions… there are SO many pretty colors in this palette! I am a real sucker for neutral palettes, I admit. But I love so many of these shades.
Surprise and Myself are good basics for the inner-corner pop and an all-over-the-lid base, respectively. I love Splendid and Aware for fall — note that Aware is very soft and creamy in feel.
I also really love Brews. I think it’s really different and is a great everyday shadow for in the crease.
I will note that looking in the pans, Storm looked navy to me, but it’s very much a charcoal/black upon swatching.
Overall, these shadows are standard Morphe quality. They are nicely pressed, there is a bit of kick-up, but it’s not bad. Easy to blend.
I’m so excited that I came across this, right from my own closet — it’s like I got something new! I think this is perfect for fall beauty looks,, but of course, you could mix this tons of different ways all year long.
What Morphe palettes do you love?
