Summertime Drink: Loverboy Spritz Blueberry Lemon.

Happy Sunday Funday! Life in quarantine has me ordering all kinds of things online that maybe I wouldn’t normally, and that includes food, wine and other cocktails. A few months ago, I ordered a 12-pack of Loverboy Spritz in Blueberry Lemon. Here’s the info from the Loverboy website:

A flirtatious twist on the not-too-sweet, bubbly spritz. Our ready-to-drink craft cocktail turns any occasion into a special occasion.

Juicy blueberries and zesty lemon give this basil-kissed sparkling libation just a hint of sweetness, so it needs no added sugar. It’s pure Loverboy, just a little dressed up.

INGREDIENTS
Carbonated water, orange wine, blueberry juice concentrate, natural flavors, lemon essence, citric acid, lemon juice concentrate.

If you’re a fan of Bravo’s “Summer House”, you probably already know that Loverboy was created by Kyle — an entrepreneur living in New York. His fiance, Amanda, and his friend Carl (both also on the show) work for Loverboy and they show up in the Hamptons every weekend with cases upon cases of their signature hard teas.

The hard teas — sold in Hibiscus Pom, White Tea Peach, & Black Tea Lemon — are known for being low in calories with no sugar. This means you can pound as many as you want and not feel guilty… and also not feel a hangover the next day.

This same idea was used for the Spritz — the Blueberry Lemon is only 100 calories with 3 grams of carbs. Not bad.

As delicious as the teas sound, they are only sold in-store and right now there’s not any stores in Austin that sell them.

So, I ordered the Spritz! They are a higher price-point than other canned cocktails, but it’s got quality ingredients and is still cheaper than buying drinks at a bar or a restaurant.

They shipped within a few days of ordering and it didn’t take long for them to arrive on my doorstep. I was initially impressed with the packaging. I bought three cases of four cans each (the minimum order) and the cases were tightly packed in a lilac box with gold foil writing. So pretty!

The cans are slightly skinnier than a soda can, and have a matte finish. Very nice.

I’ll admit, blueberry is not my favorite flavor, but I was willing to risk it. I’ve had four cans now (all on separate occasions) and they are good! It’s the best pre-mixed cocktail I’ve had. Usually, these kinds of drinks are too sweet, but these are just right.

They are very blueberry-yyyyy but I still enjoy them. I also enjoy that at 6% alcohol per can, you can drink one and not feel drunk like I sometimes do after a glass of wine.

I have been drinking them over ice and I thought if i needed to, I could doctor it with a lemon and soda water, but I haven’t. These are refreshing and light — a perfect summer cocktail.

Now, at about $6 per can, these aren’t the kinds of drinks I’d pack for a day-long tailgate (unless you’re really into fancy tailgates — I’m looking at you, Ole Miss). These are drinks to be enjoyed, and definitely deserve a beachside moment, or maybe a dinner picnic.

When I bought the Blueberry Lemon Spritz, it was the only flavor option. Loverboy has since released a Mango Peach Spritz, which I ordered last week! I will definitely report back right here once I have had a few and can offer my notes 🙂

What are you sipping on this summer?
