Happy Friday the 13th — anyone superstitious? There’s a full moon tonight, too! Spooky! I’m so excited because tonight I am going to see a standup show featuring Claudia Oshry.
I have been an avid listener of her podcast “The Morning Toast” and although I’m not familiar with her standup, I am certain I’m in for some laughs. But, I will most definitely report back tomorrow!
Today, I’m excited to talk about another Limited Edition Birchbox that I bought for myself for my birthday. This was in July, but I didn’t use most of the products inside it until my trip to San Francisco, because it was a box made for travel! And here’s the scoop:
Ready to jet? We’ve included all the TSA-approved products you need for your next trip in this beauty bag (no more indistinguishable cosmetic bottles!). Now, all that’s left is plopping the whole thing next to your vacay-ready looks.
The entire kit was $45 and has a $168 value.
This kit includes:
Birchbox Mini Brush – 1 brush
This sounds stupid, but I’ve never considered getting a mini hairbrush for travel. I always just pack one of my teasing combs and it gets the job done, but packing this little brush made such a difference. I don’t wash my hair more than once a week, so I usually don’t wash it during travel, but getting a good brush in at the end of the day really helps the situation.
Birchbox Hair Scrunchie – 1 scrunchie
This thing is perfect for pulling hair back softly for a nightly face scrub, but it’s also just so cute, I’ve worn it in public several times. I love it!
JUARA Rice Facial Cleanser – Deluxe sample
I got a JUARA body lotion in a Birchbox years ago and loved the way it smelled, so I was excited to see this in the box. I’m happy to report that the facial cleanser smells just as good!
Air Repair Complexion Quenching Facial Mist – Full-size
I’ve tried Air Repair moisturizer before, but this was my first time trying their facial mist. I liked that it was a bigger-sized bottle because I use a lot of mist! It sprayed nicely and felt very refreshing.
ColourPop Cosmetics Lippie Balm – Bellini BB – Full-size
ColourPop is a brand I’m just now trying out and this is only the second product I’ve tried from them. But, this gloss was great! It was more nourishing than your typical gloss, so I used it before I went to bed each night but also during the day as a regular gloss. I’ve always heard great things about ColourPop lip products, and this did not disappoint.
Love of Color Glow Squad Quad – Full-size
I’ve gotten several products from Love of Color in Birchboxes and they are always great — I particularly love their lipsticks! I am always really skeptical of these cream palettes that say they are multi-use. But, this one actually is! I’ve been wearing these colors even after my trip for a quick refresh before I leave the apartment. I use the bright orange on my lips and cheeks, and one of the shimmers for highlighting and lids. Its amazing!
Alterna CAVIAR Anti-Aging Replenishing Moisture Priming Leave-In Conditioner – Travel-size
I’ve used this twice now and although I don’t think I can report on the “anti-aging” aspect, I can say that it smells nice and it’s light enough that when I put it on wet hair and let it air dry, it doesn’t leave my hair oily or crunchy.
Dr. Jart+ Water Fuse™ Ultimate Hydro Gel – Deluxe sample
Dr. Jart+ is underrated! I was a little disappointed that this wasn’t a bigger sample, but a little goes a long way. I used this morning and night for my three-day trip and it’s still full. This stuff nourished my skin from the San Fran winds, so I consider it a win.
Avène Micellar Lotion – Travel-size
I’ll be honest, I don’t understand the hype over micellar lotion. I’ve used this, but I don’t notice much of a difference between it and other Micellar Lotions and I prefer using beauty balms or just double washing.
Marvis Toothpaste – Whitening Mint – Travel-size
If you read my post on Schmidt’s, you know I’ve recently started dabbling in the natural toothpaste life. Before trying Marvis, Schmidt’s was the only thing I’s tried and I really enjoyed the intense mint flavor. I also appreciate how small the tube was — you don’t need much paste!
Marvis Mouthwash Concentrate – Strong Mint – Travel-size
I enjoyed the flavor of this as well, and it must be said that the packaging is so cute. This is a concentrate so you can mix a little with water in your fancy hotel cup before swishing and rinsing. Smart!
Merci Handy Hand Sanitizer – Hello Sunshine – Travel-size
Used this so much during my trip — I always travel with hand sanitizer and this stuff smelled so good. It had a clean, cologne scent that wasn’t too clean or alcoholic smelling.
Davines MOMO Moisturizing Shampoo and Conditioner – Travel-size
I always love Davines products! I’ve used these twice now and there’s still at least three more uses in there, so it’s a great size. This also has a really clean scent, which is great after a long day of sightseeing.
Beautycounter Countersun Mineral Sunscreen Lotion SPF 30 – Deluxe sample
I recently finished up a full jar of the beauty balm from Beautycounter, which was my first ever purchase from this brand. I loved it! I was surprised to see this in my box and I used it under my makeup and then packed it in my purse to reapply on my chest and shoulders throughout the day. The texture is really soft and not greasy. Definitely looking forward to using this again!
PETER THOMAS ROTH Cucumber Gel Mask – Deluxe sample
I’ve used this mask time and time again, and I am never ever disappointed by PETER THOMAS ROTH products!
(MALIN+GOETZ) eucalyptus deodorant – Deluxe sample
Another shoutout to my Schmidt’s post, because I have been using their deodorant as well. I’ve heard awesome things about (MALIN+GOETZ) and while I really loved the texture of this deodorant, I don’t know how much the scent helped my case. I was sweating a lot hiking up the hills in SF and this was the first time I’ve ever used a deodorant that wasn’t a floral or powdery scent.
All-in-all, I LOVED this Limited Edition Birchbox (and I especially loved the bag it came in). I will say that I’ve never had a designated travel case where I keep products I’ll need for a trip… why haven’t I been doing this? I kept everything in this case and I tossed in my travel toothbrush and knew I had everything I would need already packed.
I’m heading out-of-town again in two weeks and I’m using this exact same kit!
