Can we all agree that 2020 has been a little crazy? We finally made it through summer, and the official start of fall is just around the corner. But, if you’re anything like me, summer probably wasn’t what it usually is.
You may not have been able to go on vacation, take time away from work, or see many friends or family members.
Needless to say, the COVID-19 pandemic has caused almost everyone’s life to change in some way. One of the biggest issues it’s caused is an excessive amount of stress and mental health problems.
So, now with fall finally upon us, many people might be thinking of ways to combat that stress and find some peace in the cooler season. If you want to kick off fall with more peace of mind and less stress, follow these simple tips.
- Declutter Your Space(s)
Whether you’re spending most of your time at work or at home, organizing and decluttering can make a big difference in how you feel. A cluttered home or workspace can add to your stress and even make you feel anxious.
When you organize your space and keep things as minimal as possible, you’ll feel more relaxed, more productive, and more motivated. You can go one step further and do something good for the planet by using eco-friendly cleaning products to get the job done!
- Practice Self-Care
If you feel like you’ve barely been keeping your head above water over the summer, you’re not alone. Take the time to take better care of yourself in the fall. Maybe you’ve been putting off a spa day. Or, maybe you just haven’t been as focused on your health or appearance as you usually are. Instead of having to Google “Tooth Filling Near Me” for an emergency dental procedure, visit your dentist for a teeth cleaning and checkup. Or, visit your doctor to make sure you’re in good health.
On your own time, make sure you’re getting enough sleep, eating a healthy diet, and exercising regularly. Find something to do every day that you enjoy, and you can take full advantage of the concept of self-care.
- Revamp Your Routine (Or Create One)
It’s easy to feel like life is all over the place, especially when everything has been so different over the last few months. One of the best things you can do to recenter yourself and feel less stress is to create or adapt your morning routine.
Get up at the same time each day, and go through a routine that brings you peace, comfort, and some tranquility before the day begins. Maybe it’s a long workout. Maybe you will benefit from writing in a journal, or taking a long shower with essential oils. Whatever the case, stick to your routine as much as possible. You’ll find comfort in that familiarity each day.
While so many things about this year still seem to be uncertain and overwhelming, you can absolutely choose to embrace what the next season will bring, and find ways to reduce your stress so you can enjoy the beauty it has to offer.
