For years, I’ve had a record player that was really simple and small. It allowed me to start my vinyl collection, and I played records on occasion.
But once I started playing them more often, I realized they didn’t sound right. I started doing research on record players and turntables, and learned so much!
For one, the player I had wasn’t built to be used often, and it wasn’t set up for high-quality sound with a built-in speaker. I also learned you can really spend a good chunk of change on a turntable setup if you want 🙂
At the time, I told myself I would wait. I am very lucky that I get an annual bonus at my job if we meet our financial goals, so I waited seven whole months to buy a new player!
When the time came, I narrowed my options down to two choices, both Audio-Technica brand.
Like so many purchases these days, I found myself going back and forth between two models, wondering if spending an extra $50 would actually make a difference.
I read reviews, watched videos, compared features, and probably overthought the decision more than I needed to.
In the end, I decided to spend the extra money and purchased the Audio-Technica AT-LP70XBT Fully Automatic Bluetooth Turntable.
After spending some time with it, I can confidently say I’m glad I did.
First Impressions
One of the things I appreciated most right away was how simple it was to set up.
I was expecting to spend some time assembling pieces or making adjustments, but the entire process was surprisingly straightforward.
Within just a few minutes, I had everything connected and was ready to play my first record.
If you’re new to vinyl like I am, that’s a huge plus.
Bluetooth Connectivity
One feature that really sold me on this model was Bluetooth compatibility.
Rather than immediately investing in a dedicated speaker system, I’ve been pairing the turntable with my JBL Bluetooth speaker, and honestly, it sounds fantastic.
The connection has been reliable, and the audio quality has been much better than I expected.
It also gives me the flexibility to upgrade speakers later without feeling like I needed to buy everything at once. Plus, this particular speaker is water-resistant and portable, so I carry it all around the apartment. I love that I can listen to my records from anywhere without bothering my neighbors!
Fully Automatic Operation
As someone who’s still relatively new to record players, I really appreciate that this turntable is fully automatic.
With the push of a button, the tonearm moves into place, begins playing, and then automatically returns when the record is finished.
It’s one less thing to worry about, especially if I’m reading, working around the apartment, or simply lose track of time while listening.
A Thoughtful Design
Another detail I love is the dust cover.
I like being able to leave it closed while a record is playing. The record stays protected from dust (and curious kitty paws), while I can still watch it spin through the clear cover.
It’s one of those small design choices that makes everyday use feel a little easier.
Was It Worth Spending the Extra $50?
Looking back, yes.
There are certainly less expensive record players available, and everyone’s budget is different. But after using the Audio-Technica AT-LP70XBT, I’m happy I chose to spend a little more for the features that mattered to me.
The automatic operation, Bluetooth connectivity, easy setup, and overall build quality have made it feel like a purchase I’ll enjoy for years rather than something I’ll quickly outgrow.
Final Thoughts
Sometimes the hardest part of buying a new piece of technology isn’t using it, it’s deciding which model is actually worth your money.
After plenty of deliberation, I’m really happy with my choice. The Audio-Technica AT-LP70XBT has been incredibly easy to use, sounds great with my Bluetooth speaker, and has made growing my vinyl collection feel approachable instead of intimidating.
If you’re looking for a beginner-friendly record player that doesn’t sacrifice quality or convenience, I think this one is absolutely worth considering.
