A Review: Essence Super Peptide Glossy Lip Treatment.

Sometimes the best beauty discoveries are the ones you don’t expect. That’s exactly how I feel about the Essence The Super Peptide Glossy Lip Treatment: a $5 lip product that completely won me over.

I originally picked up the clear shade, “Peptacular!”, just to try it. I didn’t expect much from a product that costs less than a fancy coffee. But after using it for a while, I’m officially hooked… and now I want every shade.

The Shades

Right now, the Super Peptide Glossy Lip Treatment comes in four shades:

  • 01 Peptacular! – clear gloss
  • 02 Pinkified! – soft pink tint
  • 03 Toffeetastic! – warm nude/brown
  • 04 Coralized! – sheer coral tone

The formula gives a subtle wash of color, so even the tinted shades look very natural — more like “your lips but better” than a traditional lipstick.

The Formula

What makes this product so good is the texture.

It’s glossy but not sticky, which is honestly the dream combination. The finish looks juicy and healthy, but it doesn’t have that tacky feeling that many lip glosses do.

The formula also includes nourishing ingredients like peptides, shea butter, vitamin E, and squalene, which help moisturize and smooth the lips.

The result is something that feels halfway between a lip balm, treatment, and gloss.

When I wear it, my lips genuinely feel hydrated — not just shiny.

The $5 Dupe Factor

One reason this product has been getting so much attention is that people say it performs like much more expensive lip treatments.

Fans frequently compare it to products like:

  • Summer Fridays Lip Butter Balm (~$24)
  • Rhode Peptide Lip Treatment (~$16)
  • Laneige Lip Glowy Balm (~$19)
  • Ole Henriksen Pout Preserve Peptide Lip Treatment (~$22)

Meanwhile, the Essence version is $4.99.

Beauty reviewers have even noted that shoppers compare it favorably to Rhode and Laneige formulas despite being a fraction of the price.

That’s pretty impressive.

A Personal Beauty Lesson

For a while, I went through a phase of buying almost exclusively high-end makeup and skincare. My thinking was basically: if I can afford it, why not buy the expensive version?

But I eventually realized something important.

A higher price doesn’t automatically mean a better product.

Lately I’ve been having a lot of fun rediscovering budget-friendly beauty that performs just as well — sometimes even better — than luxury options.

This lip treatment is the perfect example of that.

Final Thoughts

The Essence Super Peptide Glossy Lip Treatment has quickly become one of my favorite lip products.

It’s:

  • glossy but comfortable
  • nourishing
  • easy to wear every day
  • and unbelievably affordable

At $5, it honestly feels like a little beauty secret.

I started with the clear shade… but now I’m pretty sure Pinkified, Toffeetastic, and Coralized are coming home with me next.
