If you’ve been around here for a while, you know I’m a sucker for a good cleaning gadget — especially when it helps me manage the messes of life with my cat, Blanche (okay, not all of the messes are hers).
Recently, I traded in my big, upright carpet cleaner for the BISSELL Little Green Multi-Purpose Portable Carpet and Upholstery Cleaner, and I have to say: this “little green machine” lives up to the hype.
Why I Bought It
In my last apartment in Austin, I had carpet in the bedroom and closets, so a full-size carpet cleaner made sense.
It got plenty of use and paid for itself, but when it finally quit on me this summer, I knew I needed something different.
My new apartment doesn’t have wall-to-wall carpet — just two area rugs — so a bulky upright cleaner would have been overkill.
I wanted something lightweight, compact, and easy to store, but still powerful enough to handle Blanche’s occasional accidents and my own spills (because I am, admittedly, a little clumsy).
That’s when I landed on the BISSELL Little Green.
Product Highlights
Here’s what BISSELL promises with the Little Green:
- Every purchase saves pets. BISSELL proudly supports the BISSELL Pet Foundation and its mission to help homeless pets.
- Powerful suction. Designed to remove tough pet spots and stains from carpets, upholstery, car interiors, and more.
- Portable & versatile design. At just 9.7 pounds, it’s easy to carry and maneuver.
- Large tank capacity. A 48 oz. tank means you can clean more between refills.
- Removes stains & odors. Works with BISSELL’s Spot & Stain formula with Febreze Freshness.
- Proven favorite. Over 2 million units sold — clearly, I’m not the only one who swears by it!
My Experience So Far
I’ve already put this machine to the test several times, and I’m really impressed with how much cleaning power is packed into such a small unit.
- Lightweight & easy to store. It takes up hardly any space, which is a massive win for apartment living.
- Flexible cleaning power. For quick messes, I spray, scrub, and suction right away. For tougher stains, I spray the formula and let it sit before returning with the scrubber.
- Self-cleaning feature. This keeps the inside of the machine fresh, which I know will extend its life.
- Pet hair bonus. While not an official selling point, I’ve noticed this does an amazing job pulling Blanche’s fur out of my rugs — a task even my vacuum sometimes struggles with.
Final Thoughts
The BISSELL Little Green has already earned its spot in my cleaning arsenal.
It’s perfect for my smaller space, but I can see it being useful in any household — especially if you have pets, kids, or just want a low-stress way to keep upholstery and rugs fresh.
I’m particularly grateful to have it now that I have a new white couch — talk about a bold choice for a cat owner! With the Little Green, I actually feel confident about keeping it clean.
If you’ve been debating whether or not to add this little machine to your home, consider this your sign: it’s worth it.
