Let me start by saying two things: 1. I know I’m late to the game on the Zevo Flying Insect Trap, and 2. I also know this isn’t my typical product for a post.
But I genuinely sought this product out, purchased it with my money, have been using it for six weeks, and am here to report back juuuust in case there’s anyone out there looking for a solution.
Frankly, I don’t know why I didn’t get this sooner.
I live in an older apartment, and I swear, it wouldn’t be summer without some sort of infestation (gross, I know)!
I feel like I’m always dealing with house flies, mosquitos, fruit flies, and random other insects, especially in the summer. I hate it so much!
In the past, I’ve tried my best to keep my sliding door closed (the screen door keeps nothing out) as soon as I step outside but — without fail — a fly rushes inside in the two seconds it takes me to close the door.
No matter how hard I try to manage my trash and keep the place clean, it ends poorly, and at the start of the summer, I started researching proper traps.
I’d heard about the Zevo but assumed it would be costly. It wasn’t (and I was in the middle of dealing with house flies), and it had great reviews, so I bought the starter pack with the actual plug-in device and three sticky inserts.
The Zevo trap uses UV light to attract bugs, and it does it discretely (there is no sound or smell, and you can’t see the dead bugs) with a covered sticky trap.
And, there’s no toxic chemicals so it’s safe for me and kitty Blanche, and any of our guests 🙂
I put the trap together as soon as it arrived. You just insert the sticky portion into the base and peel off the paper, then plug in — voila!
The key is to find the best place to put the trap.
Put it where you see bugs, such as near your trash can or a sink. Put it in plain sight. I made the mistake of putting it in the corner of my kitchen behind my coffee maker — for two days I caught no bugs.
But I moved it to my island, which is clearly visible and in the center of my door, trash, and sink, and overnight, I caught four bugs!
Since the trap works using light, it works mostly at night, unless it’s in an area that is dark during the day.
Before using the trap, I had some lights I kept on all night. I have since stopped using those so the only light on is the trap; making it even MORE attractive to any flying insects that might be around.
Since installing the trap, it took care of a major fly issue I was having (it was awful) and I have had zero issues since!
That alone makes it worth every penny.
I also love that the sticky pad isn’t going to expire or dry up. I can use it until it’s full and keep it plugged in all year round.
Zevo also makes bug spray — for in-home and on-body — that I’d like to try, too!
Have you tried any kind of bug trap?
