Today is kitty Blanche’s GOLDEN birthday! 😻
I always do something special for Blanche on her birthday, of course, but I wanted to make today extra special.
In the past, I’ve decorated at *her* eye level with streamers and balloons (I don’t think she was impressed, but I enjoyed it), decorated her bed, blew up confetti balloons (these were the biggest hit), and served her catnip “wine.”
I always have a special meal and treats for her. This year, I chose the Nulo Sardine and Beef packet, and stocked up on her favorite treats, Shameless Catnip and Chill.
For activities and fun, we kicked off the morning feeding the birds outside with stale corn tortillas — we were on the balcony and I tossed the snacks off the side.
Blanche was rewarded with many birds visiting the area, including some that came VERY close to the patio and window. She loved it!
I also bought random toys at the Dollar Tree over the weekend, including spinning tops, a flying disc launcher, and a toy fishing pole that “catches” plastic sea life.
We played, watched birds, she had treats and her sardine meal, and of course, we went for a nice walk in her stroller.
As I was planning the activities for the day, I realized I’ve never shared a full review of this stroller, but I’ve had it since 2018!
At the time, I was trying to walk more. I was trying to get 10K steps in a day, and that took a pretty good chunk of time that had me making laps around my apartment complex. I remember thinking that I wished Blanche could join me.
So, I decided to buy a pet stroller! It took a little while to get Blanche used to getting in the stroller and letting me zip it up, but she always loved it once we got outside. There’s so much to see!
The exact stroller I bought is no longer available, but there’s several out there that are very similar, and at the same price point.
My pet stroller has three wheels (one in the front, two in the back), a cup holder near the handlebar, and a basket underneath the pet carrier portion (this comes in handy).
The most important part is making sure your pet is safe inside. Get one that zips all the way up so your pet is completely enclosed — even if you don’t plan on using it that way all the time.
A majority of the carrier is covered in a heavy-duty — but soft — mesh so Blanche can still see out but is safe inside. She’s tried to pick at it a few times with her claws, but it’s very strong and hasn’t ripped or even come close.
My pet stroller has a clip inside where you can connect a leash, which is also nice.
You might also consider how you’ll store your pet stroller; mine folds up, but Blanche loves sitting inside it and sleeping in it, even when it’s just sitting in the apartment! It’s like a second bed for her, and the wheels lock, so it’s very steady.
The stroller I have was $40, and it’s held up perfectly after all these years so don’t feel like you have to spend a lot to get something safe for your pet.
Of course, a lot depends on your pet, their needs, and the circumstances of where you’ll be using the stroller and how often.
But if you’ve been thinking about getting a pet stroller, let this be your sign! It’s been a lot of fun to take Blanche outside and let her see some new (to her) scenery and get fresh air.
I’ve tried cat leashes before, but one broke once and I’m too scared to try it again; plus, I am always paranoid about what’s on the ground (it’s overkill, but i can’t help it).
Plus, with a stroller, nothing can attack your pet, and the pet won’t get tired or exposed to too much sun.
A pet stroller is a great, safe way to be outside with your furry friend — you’ll both love it!
Happy pet-strolling!
