Y’all… I don’t know if wearing Nikes ever went out of style. If it did, it’s certainly back in style now.
I wouldn’t consider myself someone who stays on top of trends. Sure, I pay some attention as to what people are wearing, but I was never on the hunt for a pair of Nikes… until recently.
Whoever does Nike’s digital ads should get a bonus this year, because I kept seeing the cutest pairs come up on my social media feed!
I would “like” or save the posts for a rainy day, but never started shopping. And then one Sunday afternoon, I started the hunt.
I don’t think I’ve had a pair of Nikes since approximately 1996 when I was in 6th grade. Could’ve been 1997, but you get the picture. I had no idea how much Nikes cost, which was also part of my hunt.
There are three different pairs I was looking for, and since I’m dedicated to buying ethically, I wasn’t sure I should buy directly from Nike. Are they ethical? Legit question.
Regardless, I looked on Poshmark first.
I’ve been shopping on Poshmark for years and have found some great items! When I started searching for women’s Nike shoes, I was shocked at how many things I saw!
I started marking some of the pairs that looked good, and I quickly saw one of the pairs I wanted, and it was in my exact size. Holy cow.
I hesitated, which is risky on Poshmark since great finds disappear fast.
Since the pandemic, more online scams have cropped up, and Poshmark isn’t free of scam artists. Two things Poshmark shoppers were told to look for are: When was the account opened (recent accounts are less-trustworthy) and how many items are for sale in that particular shop?
The account that had the Nike shoes was recently opened and was only selling one thing: the thing I wanted.
Ugh.
I started digging around on my account and saw that Poshmark has a few security measures in place. For one, the seller doesn’t get paid until the buyer confirms they’ve received the item they ordered. For two, Poshmark has a money-back guarantee that you’ll get what you ordered.
So, I took the risk, and bought the shoes.
They’re the Women’s Nike Air Max Correlate in Mango (with teal accents), and after doing some research, I knew I needed to size up by 1/2.
The pair on Poshmark was the exact size I needed, they were in great condition, and they were $38 (they retail for $95).
I felt like it was too good to be true, but I bought them anyway and hoped for the best!
But, they were shipped quickly, and even though I was nervous to open the box, they were exactly what was promised. I couldn’t believe it!
I’ve been wearing the shoes quite and bit, and they are really comfortable. They look cool, too — I’ve gotten many compliments on them when I’ve worn them out.
Last year, I bought a pair of Golden Goose (the most comfortable shoes I’ve ever owned) so I compare all of my shoes to them and these come in at a close second!
I wore them to the March for Our Lives rally and was on my feet for a few hours. Then, I ran errands afterward, and even though I was breaking them in, they were still really comfortable.
Since I’m so happy with my purchase, I’ve been regularly checking Poshmark for other Nikes I want!
Have you recently been eyeing sneakers??
If you haven’t tried Poshmark, you can use code THEBITTERLEMON and get $10 off your first purchase.
