Guide to Cream Blush.

As a makeup junkie, the pandemic has been a weird time of… not having much of a reason to wear makeup, but also finding new ways to wear it, because I have a closet full of the stuff.

And, even though we’re not all going full-glam for that Zoom staff meeting (or if you are, GO!), makeup trends are still coming and going and well, we are back to the dewy, young, fresh look instead of the powdery matte we were rocking pre-COVID.

The key to the look — aside from a glowy foundation and soft highlighter — is a cream blush.

I have always been a little intimidated by cream blush, even though it seems like such a cool product. I love that it blends and you can often use it for a lip color, too, but my biggest concern is that it will breakup my foundation.

So, I dragged out my collection of cream blushes and put them to the test. I’m sharing the ones that made the cut:

Kiko Milano Green Me Lips & Cheeks Pencil

I’ve gotten a few things from Kiko Milano because their products are clean! This lip and blush pencil is made from 94% raw materials and has a low environmental impact. I love that this can be used for cheeks or lips (especially for travel or taking on-the-go). I have color 101, which is a deep rosy mauve that will be great for fall and winter.

Morphe 2 Wondertint Cheek & Lip Mousse

When Morphe announced its Morphe 2 line, I was skeptical. But, I watched Manny MUA test all the products and he liked the Cheek & Lip Mousse, so I bought it — influenced! This is SO light and dries down to a powder, so it’s easy to blend and looks flawless. I have the color “FYP” — described as a “blushing rose.”

Lauren Conrad Beauty The Lip & Cheek Tint

LC! I was so excited when Lauren shared she was doing a beauty and skincare line. It’s all vegan and clean, and well, you know the branding is on-point since it’s LC. I had to get the Lip & Cheek Tint because the “Plum” looked like the perfect color for a natural wash of color… you know, like Lauren had when she was on the back of the Vespa in Paris?! This is a sheer (but buildable) color, great for a quick on-the-go look.

Wander Beauty On-the-Glow Blush and Illuminator

This is a dual-ended stick with blush on one end and highlighter on the other. I got this in a Limited Edition Birchbox and was so excited because Wander Beauty always knocks it out of the park! Although this product has been around for a bit (it won the 2018 Allure Best of Beauty Award), it’s genius. Not only is the cream formula smooth and color-packed, but you can mix it with the highlighter, wear it on the lips, or anywhere on the face or body. Love this thing!

Milk Makeup Mini Lip + Cheek

Can we agree that Milk Makeup is the OG in cream color?!? This was my first cream blush and I keep coming back for more. It’s sheer, it’s buildable… it ends up in my bag every time I travel. I have “Perk” which is a shimmery coral (perfect for spring and summer).

Jaclyn Cosmetics ROUGE ROMANCE CREAM BLUSH STICK

I got the color “Overruled” which is a deep rose hue — figured it would be great for fall and winter. I am still playing around with this one just to see all the different ways I can use it, but so far I like it. I have applied it directly on my skin right on top of my foundation and it looks great and blends easily.
