Blanche’s Book Club: ‘P.S. I Still Love You’.

It has been chilly in Austin! As I write this, I’m wearing boxers + PJ pants on top… and a t-shirt with a giant fleece. Even Blanche is laying on the electric blanket.

I should mention that I’ve never turned on the heat. I don’t really like the way the heat feels in an apartment – it’s… stuffy or something? Plus, it doesn’t STAY cold here like it does other places, so it’s never too bad, but I hate that feeling of not being able to move (or get things done) because of the drafty chill.

It’s the perfect excuse to curl up with a book and a mug of coffee! So, that’s exactly what I did last night when I read the latest pick from Blanche’s Book Club! It’s “P.S. I Still Love You” by Jenny Han. Here is the book’s description from Amazon:

Given the way love turned her heart in the New York Times bestselling To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before, which School Library Journal called a “lovely, lighthearted romance,” it’s no surprise that Laura Jean still has letters to write.

Lara Jean didn’t expect to really fall for Peter.

She and Peter were just pretending. Except suddenly they weren’t. Now Lara Jean is more confused than ever.

When another boy from her past returns to her life, Lara Jean’s feelings for him return too. Can a girl be in love with two boys at once?

In this charming and heartfelt sequel to the New York Times bestseller To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before, we see first love through the eyes of the unforgettable Lara Jean. Love is never easy, but maybe that’s part of what makes it so amazing.

So, this is book two in the “To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before” trilogy. Honestly, I didn’t read the book’s description before I read it, so I really had no expectations going in.

And I’ll say, I love the direction this book went. It didn’t drag the story out – there’s new twists and turns and even some new characters that add more depth.

Kitty, Laura Jean’s little sister, remains to be my favorite character. I know for book one, I said it was a younger-sounding voice than what I’d imagine for a 16-year-old, but book two was a little better.

They recently announced that this book is also getting its own Netflix treatment, so I’m looking forward to that!

I think if you read the first book and liked it – even just a little bit – then you’ve got to roll on to the second one! They are such easy, light reads.

The next book Blanche’s Book Club will be reading is “China Rich Girlfriend” by Kevin Kwan. And… I’m probably going to plow through it all today because BOTH of these books are due back at the library TODAY.

Please tell me I’m not the only one who does this? I go to the library and pile up on books, but the check-out time is only two weeks… so then I end up reading multiple books the day they’re due.

I’m deadline driven, I suppose.
