I FINALLY watched “The Greatest Showman“! I’ve been hearing so much about it lately, and put it on my library reserves list… which took a few months for it to finally be my turn.
Before I get into thoughts on the movie, here’s the official description from Fox:
Hugh Jackman leads an all-star cast in this bold and original musical filled with infectious showstopping performances that will bring you to your feet time and time again.
Inspired by the story of P.T. Barnum (Jackman), the film follows the visionary who rose from nothing to create a mesmerizing spectacle.
This inspirational film also stars Zac Efron, Michelle Williams, Rebecca Ferguson and Zendaya.
I will admit that I was nervous before watching it that they would show some animal cruely – I know, I’m awful, but that’s all I think about when I think of the circus!
They didn’t show anything like that, if you’re wondering. Instead, it was more so about the business-side of putting on a show that people weren’t familiar with just yet.
And of course, the songs! The dancing! It was fantastic! I really loved the scene where they (Zac Efron and Hugh Jackman) were in the bar – amazing.
I do hear that kids like this movie a lot, which sort of surprised me after seeing it as it was a little more mature, but hey, I’m not a parent.
So yes, I really enjoyed it!
In other news, I’ve had so much on my to-do list this weekend, as I’m trying to wrap things up before my trip. I always sort of forget how much I have going on until I leave for a trip.
Then, I’m scrambling around trying to get work done for my day job, for my freelance clients, fill Etsy orders, and make sure I’ve got everything packed. I also refuse to leave on a trip with my apartment messy – like it has to be spotless.
I don’t know how much I’ve talked about it on here, but my kitty Blanche has developed quite serious anxiety over the last year and me running around does not help it.
So, when I get ready for trips, I have to maintain an allure of calmness, or else she will totally freak out and it’s not pretty.
However, I’m looking forward to spending a good chunk of my day with friends at brunch! It’s a pitch-in for the holidays, so I’m bringing bagels, lox, and jalapeno cream cheese…yum!
I hope you all enjoy the rest of your weekend!
Love this movie! They just came out with a “re-imagined” soundtrack (a la the Hamilton Mixtape) and it’s pretty good!! Check it out if you haven’t already!
Yes, I’ve heard a few of the songs – they are so good!
