Life can get a little dull sometimes. Most of us need a good routine if we want to get things done and work towards our goals, but never having a break from the routine can leave us feeling stuck, and like we’re not experiencing life to the fullest. If you want to make sure that your year is full of excitement, then you’re going to want to try out some of the ideas below. Don’t worry – you don’t have to jump out of a plane or become a lion tamer. Take a look at some realistic things that you can do instead!
Eliminate Things From Your Life That Are No Longer Serving You
First of all, take a look at your life and figure out what you’re doing that is no longer serving you. For example, you might have realized that you’re spending far too long on social media each day. That’s hours of your life that you’ll never get back. Maybe you’re still going to a class that you no longer enjoy. Whatever it is, know that it’s good to change and try new things. Just because you used to love something doesn’t mean you have to stick with it if it’s no longer ‘your thing’.
Plan Some Exciting Trips/Expeditions
Planning exciting trip and expeditions to new places can make your life feel far more fulfilling and satisfying. Ask a friend or family member to go with you, or if you’re brave enough, go alone! Some people really want to travel solo but feel afraid to go ahead with it. Solo travel can be very enriching and help you to learn much more about yourself. Why not find some information about Katla if you fancy taking a volcano tour, or do your research and go on safari? You could even just head to the beach – traveling to new places is always exciting, no matter where you go!
Change Up Your Morning Routine
A new morning routine can shake up your day for the better and help you to feel happier and more productive as you go about everything. Why not get up without snoozing your alarm, leave yourself plenty of time to read a chapter, go for a run or do some yoga, and listen to an audiobook as you get ready for the day? Having a morning routine that you really enjoy can help you to feel better all day long, and you’ll notice that you actually want to get out of bed. When you snooze your alarm multiple times and get up having to rush around to leave the house, you’re unlikely to have a day with the same enthusiasm.
Do Something Fun With Your Appearance
Your appearance is not everything, don’t get us wrong – but doing something fun with your appearance could potentially give you more confidence. The way we present ourselves to the world can have a huge impact on how we feel. Why not wear that crazy t-shirt you’ve been thinking about, or better still, dye your hair that shade of pillar box red you’ve been coveting? You don’t usually have much fun staying stuck inside of your comfort zone – just make sure that whatever you do, you do it for yourself and nobody else!
Learn A New Skill
Is there a skill that you feel could help you to do better in your personal/professional life? Perhaps there’s something you’ve been thinking about for a while and you’ve just not got around to signing up. Go to an acting class or join a theatre group in your area. See a singing coach. Go to a still life class. Learn how to design websites – whatever you do, make sure it feeds your soul and makes you feel good!
Go On Solo Dates
Going on solo dates might seem frightening, but it’s actually a great way to enjoy some ‘you’ time. Getting to know yourself and becoming your own best friend is never a bad thing. If you like yourself, you won’t be lonely – and the goal should be to fall deeply in love with yourself and your life! Take yourself out for food – go for a coffee first, if you’re afraid of being on your own in this environment. You could then go to galleries or museums, see a show, or even go to a gig. Being alone means being able to do things at your own pace, and perhaps even noticing things that you wouldn’t have if you had somebody with you to distract you!
Do That One Big Thing You Always Think About Doing
Everybody has that one thing they always think about doing, but feel the ‘fear’ when they consider doing it for real. Well, now is the time to feel the fear and do it anyway. Why would you have that desire if you weren’t supposed to go out there and do it? Train in martial arts and become a champion. Learn how to dance and enter competitions. Or just do things for the sheer fun of it. You never know where these amazing hobbies might take you. You might just notice a whole new world of opportunities open up for you!
Don’t Wait For ‘Special Occasions’
Every single day is a special occasion. No day is promised to us, and life can change in a flash. So wear the outfit, eat the cake, and call that person that you think is funny and ask them out. Don’t wait, or you might regret it!
Do Something Small That Scares You Every Day
Do something small that scares you every day, whether that’s smiling at a stranger, wearing a bold color, or asking for a raise!
Meet New People
Go out of your way to meet new people. You know what they say; it’s not what you know, it’s who you know. You will expand your network, notice more opportunities, and find your ‘tribe’! Make an effort to smile and strike up conversation with multiple people every day, even if you’re an introvert. It will pay off!
