In the fifteenth episode, Derek and I interview Dr. Amena Johnson, who’s the Executive Director for Hope in a Box. Hope in a Box provides LGBTQ+ books and curricula for schools in need.
Dr. Amena was our most scholarly guest thus far, and Hope in a Box is the first non-profit we’ve featured! Lots of firsts in this episode, and it was really exciting.
Dr. Amena shared personal stories that led to her work with Hope in a Box, and we talked a lot about banned books and laws against the LGBTQ+ community.
