A Review: Chrissy Teigen cookware.

For Christmas, my mom gifted me some pieces from the Chrissy Teigen cookware collection. I don’t know if she planned to, but when she witnessed me cooking in pots and pans with the handles broken off, she had pity on my cooking soul.

I’ve been using the same set of pots and pans she got me when I graduated from college — 12 years ago.

I have noticed over the past year or so that I wear out EVERYTHING. I have noticed it with my clothes before — wearing cardigans until they have pills on them, loose buttons, and discolored armpits. I’m trying to be better in that area, but I started noticing it in other places, too.

Using bedsheets until they rip, furniture that’s cat-scratched… why? Mostly, it’s money. I’ve never had a budget to replace things that aren’t necessarily broken. But, when I started replacing small things, I saw what a difference it could make. A simple swap of curtains made my living room look fresh and new, a slipcover convinced me to sit on the couch more.

I had a similar reaction when we brought the cookware home. Getting some new pots and pans makes me enjoy cooking so much more! Here are the pieces I got:

  • 10-inch frying pan
  • 8-inch frying pan
  • 2.5 quart saucepan with lid
  • 5-quart stainless steel saute pan with lid
  • Silicon spoon and spatula

I got all of the pieces in gray and they are all SO pretty! Obviously, I have never shopped for cookware and have really no idea about all of different kinds there are or price points, so this review may be completely worthless.

But, I do think the pieces seem affordable for the quality. I was really excited to get pots and pans that had lids — most of the lids I had broke and I was using a plate to cover when needed (sad, I know).

I was also SO excited to have a stainless steel piece that I could move from stovetop to oven — I could never quite cook things right that call for this move with my old set.

In general, these pieces are nice to handle and very easy to clean. I have had to use baking soda on the stainless steel pan a few times, but probably because I’m just trying to keep it REAL clean and pretty. I love that it has two handles, so there’s no risk in dropping it.

The silicon spoon and spatula have wooden handles (something I’ve never had) and they still look new, even though I use them all the time.

I love all of the little details in the pieces — Chrissy’s signature engraved into all of the handles (it’s small) and written on the bottom of the pots and pans. And each piece came with a recipe from her cookbook.

I have always enjoyed cooking, but it’s much more fun when the cookware is so pretty — it makes me feel like I’ve upgraded. I also got Chrissy’s second cookbook for Christmas — so my kitchen is all kinds of Chrissy Teigen!

Maybe if I’m feeling ambitious (and if business continues to do well), I’ll buy a few more pieces — I’m eyeing some of the cast-iron pieces and possibly some bakeware.

I’ve been continuing to cook at home as much as possible — this weekend I’m making a black bean posole and I bought some stuff to make veggie bowls for lunch: kale, brown rice, corn, carrots and brussels sprouts for roasting, and chickenless chicken patties to cut up on top with a little bit of vegan ranch dressing. Yum!
